Thiruvallur-based Vivekananda College of Education was started in the year 2009 and it is a co-educational college providing standard education to prospective teachers. Over the years, we have established our affiliated college in Tamil Nadu, India, and emerged as one of the preferred institutes for teacher education. Recognised by the NCTE, the college provides specific courses to build student-teacher talent and humanity. The college currently has 141 students and a teaching staff of 9 teachers, which makes the college to offer personalised learning environments.

The college has a number of facilities that seem to complement learning. College-conscious people can harness the college’s sporting equipment to develop health and teamwork spirit. An auditorium is a focal point of educational and informal activities, meetings, conferences, and cultural programmes. The physical structure universally represents a library, a centre for learning that helps students with their studies. In our departments, main laboratories are available for practical lesson teaching and this is important for the preparation of teachers. Also, students are well prepared for any aspect of scholarly life through the great information technology support accorded to the college.

Vivekananda College of Education has kept itself restricted to a specialised field of academic session, which mainly includes the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.). This full-time, two-year programme aims at producing competent and emotionally passionate teachers. The college aims at having an intake capacity of 100 seats for the B.Ed. programme with the noble intention of ensuring proper quality in teaching, besides acknowledging the fact that many people are interested in taking up teaching careers. The fact that the vision revolves solely around the education of teachers enables the institution to direct its resources and knowledge in developing a strong foundation for learning exclusively for the teachers in the making.

The admission criteria of the Vivekananda College of Education reflect a merit-based system as envisaged by the state government, U.T. Administration, and the sponsoring university. The students that wish to join the institution are considered on performance in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. Because of such a rigorous selection approach, highly qualified and competent candidates get a chance to join the teaching profession.
