Vivekanandha Nursing College for Women in Salem was started in the year 2007 and is one of the topmost nursing colleges in Tamil Nadu, India. This affiliated college is situated in Veerachipalayam, Sankari West, and it is a women’s college solely providing an environment for ladies who have an interest in becoming nurses. The college is recognised by the Indian Nursing Council (INC), thus it follows the policies set by this INC regarding the training of nurses. The aim is to provide quality educational courses in the healthcare sector and in keeping with the objective, the institute provides three courses in nursing: B.Sc. in Nursing, General Nursing and Midwifery and Auxiliary Nurse and Midwifery, encompassing different degrees of nursing careers.

Vivekanandha Nursing College for Women has in total three courses that admit students for a full-time programme and are tailored for nursing education. The B.Sc. Nursing programme offered by the college is a four-year course that has been approved for taking 60 students initially for basic training in nursing in terms of theories as well as practical. The three-year General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) programme enrols 40 students and emphasises basic nursing and midwifery competencies. Further, the college runs a two-year Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) course on a non-capacitious intake basis. These programmes are intended to prepare students for the professional work environment in nursing.
