VPMM College of Architecture for Women, Virudhunagar: Admission, Courses, Fees, Placements

VPMM College of Architecture for Women, which came into existence in the year 2015-16 is an affiliated college located at Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu. It is a women-only institution that is recognised by the Council of Architecture and has a specialised focus on architectural education. Located over an area of 100 acres, the college has a total strength of 11 students and 15 faculty members. VPMM College of Architecture offers only one course, namely, the B.Arch Five-year full-time course approved intake 20 students per year.

The college has a number of resources available to its students to satisfy their educational needs. The library is well equipped with over forty workbenches in the form of tables and study carts with shelves and books for individual use, a group study area, and a reading area. The IT facilities are strong, with eighty computers that are fitted with industry software like CADD, Revit, Photoshop, and 3D SMA; all computers are in compliance with Anna University and COA standards. In this case, the institutions have provided accommodation facilities for their students; for the female residential students, there is a girls’ hostel. It also has a health care section accompanied by a health centre to lend first aid to its students where need arises.

Currently, VPMM College of Architecture for Women has only one programme, which is the five-year Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) programme. This is a five-year full-time course with an approved intake capacity of twenty seats only. This programme shall enable the students to get deep knowledge of architectural principles and methods of architectural design and practical skills in the field. Although the college currently offers only this one degree, it still seems to make a point of having a specific type of educational facility for women pursuing a career in architecture.

Academic entry to the VPMM College of Architecture for Women is offered to students through national-level entrance tests. The college accepts scores from two primary exams: The other tests include the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) and Joint Entrance Examination (Main), abbreviated as JEE Main. These tests evaluate the abilities and competencies of the students that are closely related to the architectural curriculum. 

As to the details of the applications, the student is supposed to consult the college website or the office of admissions, as the dates may change the years. Scholarship information has not been highlighted though students interested in scholarships should contact the college individually for a chance of securing a scholarship.
