The Y.A. Government Degree College for Women, Chirala, Andhra Pradesh, was established in 1966, and ever since, it has been a pioneer institution in women's education. The college has the diversity of 14 different courses in 6 degree programs with 568 students. The faculty is fairly well represented with 30 members on a 5-acre campus, ensuring a quite favourable student-teacher ratio. It is an available institution of the government and is meant for imparting quality education only to girls. There is a mixture of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in arts, commerce, and sciences.

The undergraduate programmes range from arts and commerce to the sciences; some new combinations include B. Sc. programmes in Mathematics, Data Science and Computer Science, Microbiology, Chemistry and Zoology. The Post Graduate department comprises M.Com, MA English and M.Sc Computer Science.
