YMCA College of Physical Education, Chennai, was set up in the year 1920 and has offered education in physical education and sports science. Established in Anna Salai, Nandanam, this affiliated college is recognised by NCTE or National Council for Teacher Education. The college occupies a vast area of 63.54 acres and provides educational programmes of 7 degrees with 15 courses in total, including 552 in total enrolment. Being co –educational institution it offers equal opportunities to both male and female students. At present, this college has 19 faculty members, which gives our students individual attention and offers a quality education to develop specialised branches of physical education and sports management.

YMCA College of Physical Education has well equipped facilities that supplement learning in order to produce a complete education. The campus has separate hostels for boys and girls for out-station students and other courses to live a comfortable life in the institution. The programme is housed in a library that contains over 12 500 books, a variety of periodicals, research materials, backed by modern digital resources and online services. Modern educations technology lab, fitness lab, sport lab and sports psychology display laboratories are some of the practical facilities available. Technology in the learning institution comprises a fully-fitted computerised laboratory, internet connection in day to day learning in the college.

Courses offered by YMCA College of Physical Education include Bachelor of Physical Education, Physical Education and Sports Science, Physical Education and Health Education. This institution offers fifteen programmes, these are full-time undergraduate, post graduate, doctoral studies, diploma and certificate programmes. The college has also been approved to admit 552 students in aggregate over its various programmes. The noted undergraduate and postgraduate courses are B.P.Ed with one hundred seats, M.P.Ed with sixty seats and B.P.E.S for seventy five seats. Further, the college has admission capacity of 12 in BMS, apart from a range of postgraduate diploma programmes in coaching in sports in different fields.

Admission is open to all streams at YMCA College of Physical Education on the basis of marks secured by the candidates in the entrance tests, fitness test, interview and marks obtained in the qualifying examination. For the vocational courses like B.P.Ed and M.P.Ed, the college do practical and written tests, fitness tests and interviews. These policies include the admission procedure and policies complied to the state government and the affiliating university.
