Established in 1999, YMT Dental College and Research Institute is a step in the way of one of the prominent institutions for dental education in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. This affiliated college, approved by the Dental Council of India, offers courses in dentistry at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels on its vast 5-acre campus. A total student of 547 enrolment and staff strength of 156—all this ensures the conductive atmosphere at the YMT Dental College. Under its academic belt, it offers 9 courses at 2 levels of degrees with a speciality in Dentistry namely: Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Periodontology, Orthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, and much more.

A well-established library, hosting more than 7,600 books, 2,277 bound volumes, and 95 current journals with national and international coverage in its stacks, acts as a knowledge hub. Hostels are available on the campus for girls and boys to be accommodated comfortably. The health centre caters to immediate medical needs with first aid facilities. State-of-the-art laboratories are maintained with practical training facilities and research opportunities. To inculcate holistic development, sports, having a gym on campus, and extracurricular activities, such as NSS, are encouraged at YMT Dental College. It is further augmented by an auditorium for functions and seminars, a cafeteria for refreshments, and guest rooms for visiting faculty among other family members.

Dental college-related programs at YMT Dental College and Research Institute involve a spectrum approach to educational programs. The institute offers undergraduate and post-graduate courses, targeting mainly regular full-time programs. The flagship undergraduate Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) course offers an intake of 100 seats; the Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) has 5 seats for each speciality. The courses offered include, in total, nine different programs that bring in many opportunities to the students in defence dental education.

Admission to YMT Dental College and Research Institute is entrance-based based. So, for the Under Graduate Program, that is the BDS, it is the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-based result. Further, even for Post Graduate MDS programs, the most common selection criteria are the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for MDS, i.e., the NEET MDS. The standardised tests have ensured the fairness and competitiveness of the entrance process.
