I am a young graduate from Kolkata currently living in New Delhi. I have keen interest in Digital Marketing and everything related to the online medium. Last year, I did a Digital Marketing course offered by an online platform. After which I took up a paid internship for three months at a Gurugram-based startup dealing in cosmetics. My stipend was Rs 7,000 per month. It was an in-office internship.

I was working with the Social Media Marketing team of the company. My responsibilities were to make social media calendars and social media posts for Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn. At times, I also used to write creative content as per the requirement of the Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) team. My team members were very cooperative and helpful to me, I never felt that I am an intern working only for a few months. As I was working very closely with the marketing teams of the company, I learnt a lot during my whole internship period. I learnt how a company advertises its product on various social media platforms and what is the correct way to do it. I leant every small thing that is vital to increase the traffic and rating of the company’s website or app. Digital Marketing is quite technical in nature but once you get started, you will keep on improving your skills and learnings. My internship period was very good.
Presently, I am working as a junior executive in the Digital Marketing team of a renowned cosmetic brand. I am delighted that my digital marketing course and my internship paid me really well. I can proudly say that I am a Social Media Marketer in one of India’s leading cosmetics brands.

I am 21 years old from Kochi. Currently, I am pursuing a degree course in Business Studies. Business and Marketing fascinate me a lot. During my semester holidays, I applied for marketing internships with the intention to utilise my vacation productively. Finally, an opportunity knocked my door, it was from a clothing brand in Rajasthani.
The period of the internship was three months and it was a work from home social media marketing internship. I had an online interview where the interviewers checked on my familiarity in using Digital Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Content writing and Search Engine Optimisation tools etc. They assigned me pre-work and gave me two days to complete the work which I completed successfully and further, got selected for the internship. I received a stipend of Rs 5,000 per month. A three hour demo lecture of the whole crux of the work was given to me by a senior official of the company. The next day, they handed me three social media pages which were Instagram, Facebook, and Youtube. I started creating the content for the products and started promoting on all three pages initially for 4-5 days. I did not get good reach but then I observed and read about the trends and techniques involved in marketing. With all due creativity, I posted the content which has a high probability of grabbing the consumers attention. Eventually, I reached the right track with a good pace. Then it went cool for the next two months. During the second month, I felt the work was becoming rigorous because I used to work post working hours as well. However, all that hardwork helped me in finding my passion towards marketing and business strategies. It was quite an enjoyable experience. I also learned how quickly the trends change and how one should spontaneously struggle to lead in the e-marketing businesses. I hope this experience will help me fetch a good job in the future and might also help you in understanding what a social media marketer does.
