Course overview

The session is specially designed and structured to provide students with more details about the scientific reasons behind the environmental phenomenon of global warming. The course will also be providing solutions and ways to tackle and deal with climate change. And will provide the techniques and methods to reverse the process of global warming from the environment. Though the course can be finished using self-paced programmes.

The Certification Course on Climate Change: The Science and Global impact by edX will cover the fundamental scientific principles and causes behind global warming and climate change. It will develop a better scientific temperament and understanding of how over the years the weather and climate have been changing their course. The nature and impact of these pivotal changes and their impacts on the human and natural ecosystem will be covered in the Climate Change: The Science and Global impact course curriculum.

The basics of- greenhouse gases, atmospheric pressure, ways to collect climate data and more will serve as the fundamentals. The candidates will be able to select 2 tracks during their course of study. One is the verified mode which offers unlimited access, and on the other hand, the candidates will get a limited access period during the audit mode.

Who it is for

The Certification Course on Climate Change: The Science and Global impact by edX is for students who are eager to-

  • Candidates who are interested to study about the pre-industrial climatic conditions and the changes since then can take up the course.
  • Aspirants who want to find an alternative to the problem of greenhouse emission and find an alternative to fossil fuels can get themselves registered.

Eligibility criteria

Certification Qualification Details

Candidates will receive an “in structure-signed” shareable certificate only if they upgrade their course by doing the payment as defined in the Certification Course on Climate Change: The Science and Global impact by edX.

What you will learn

Knowledge of environmental science

Once the Certification Course on Climate Change: The Science and Global impact by edX comes to an end students will have their skills developed in-

  • The candidates will learn the paleoclimate evidence that will help them to understand the process of climate change in a dynamic way.
  • The way to model the earth's climate system will be taught that will enable students with a better understanding.
  • The one- dimensional energy models that are involved in the process of balancing the earth’s temperature.
  • The various methods and ways through which energy consumption can be reduced and emissions are limited will be taught.
  • During the programme, students will have their skills strengthened in collecting data for climatic variations.
  • Carbon cycle and the feedback mechanisms that are involved in the energy regulation will be covered as well.
  • Candidates will know to measure anthropogenic climate change and can also interpret the changes.
  • He/she will have their skills developed in the trends that involve the surface temperature of the oceans.
  • The extreme weather that existed in the earth's atmospheric conditions will be taught so that students can understand the impact of the changes.
  • Students will be taught the way to measure carbon emission so that they can analyse the process of carbon danger themselves.
