Do you know, now you can get admission to IIT Madras, one of the premier institutes of India, under the cultural quota? From the academic session 2025-2026, it has started offering admission to undergraduate courses based on the FACE (Fine Arts and Culture Excellence) quota.
This cultural quota is similar to other quotas, such as the sports quota, and SC-ST quota. Students who are applying for this quota do not need to appear for the JoSSA counselling process. This is a historic move, as no other institutes before have considered the arts and culture to provide admission. BTech or Bachelor of Technology is one of the most sought-after courses among the students who have completed their 10+2 in Science.
The eligibility criteria for the BTech course is to clear the JEE Main examination. Candidates who wish to pursue a BTech degree in top institutions like IITs, then they need to clear the JEE Advanced as well. Candidates need to appear for the JoSSA Counselling once they clear their JEE Main entrance examination to get admission into engineering colleges in India.
Students with valid certificates in arts and culture are eligible for admission. Two seats are added for the cultural quota for each programme, one is for female students and one is gender neutral. Candidates need to receive at least a once-in-a-lifetime award from the Government of India for any art form.
Indian citizens and overseas citizens of India or persons of Indian origin (OCI/PIO) are eligible for the cultural quota at IIT Madras. The list of eligible awards, recognition and fellowships for students opting for the FACE quota are listed below:
Candidates need to clear the JEE Advanced examination and should not opt for the JoSAA counselling process. They need to pay the seat acceptance fee for the FACE quota. Based on the candidate’s achievements in fine arts, one FACE rank list will be prepared. Candidates can freeze the seat similarly in the JoSSA counselling process. Admission to the BTech degree and BS degree in cultural quota sets a milestone for both cultural and academic excellence.
Application Date:03 September,2024 - 31 December,2024

Hi there,
hope you are doing fine
Yes, you can apply for any M.tech colleges in computer science field through GATE exams, some of the requirement you need to see that you must have Under graduate degree, Pursuing BE doesn't affect your eligibility, You may check some of the specific eligibility criteria of the colleges like IIT's in which you are interested, as some of them may have additional requirements.
With an SC category rank of 41,715 and a CRL rank of 570,173 in JEE Main, getting into NITs or top-tier IITs for B.E./B.Tech may be challenging. However, you might find options in state engineering colleges in Maharashtra, as they often have seats reserved for SC candidates with lower cutoff requirements compared to NITs. Look into state-level entrance options like MHT CET or other reserved category seats in Maharashtra’s government and private engineering colleges for better chances.
