BTech degree is the most popular degree among the students of 10+2. The main criteria to get admission to the BTech courses is to score well in the JEE Main entrance examination. However, there are many colleges in India that do not accept the JEE Main result and conduct their own entrance examinations. In this article, we will discuss the alternative entrance exams, popular BTech courses, and colleges that do not require JEE.

BTech Courses without JEE Mains in 2025: Alternative Entrance Exams for BTech

Generally, the eligibility criteria are considered to be passing the JEE Main entrance exam however there are multiple entrance exams, such as BITSAT, VITEEE, KEAM Exam, WBJEE, SRMJEE, MHT CET, and MET. In this section, we have discussed the state-level entrance exams for admission to BTech courses.

  1. WBJEE - West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board conducts WBJEE exams for admission to engineering colleges in West Bengal.
  2. KEAM Exam - The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations conducts the KEAM Exam, which is a state-level entrance examination for admission to BTech and BArch courses in Kerala.
  3. MHT CET - MHT CET is a state-level entrance exam conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell - Maharashtra State.

Popular BTech Specialisations

BTech course is a diverse field which offers various specialisations, such as civil, mechanical, CSE, and AI-ML. Here we have discussed a few evergreen BTech specialisations.

  • Computer Science Engineering (CSE): CSE or Computer Science Engineering course is one of the popular and sought-after courses among students of 10+2. It focuses on software development, programming, artificial intelligence, and data science.
  • Mechanical Engineering: Mechanical Engineering course focuses on designing, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems and machinery. It offers various career opportunities in the automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing industries.
  • Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE): After CSE, EEE is the most sought-after course among engineering students. Graduates in EEE, work with various electrical circuits, power systems, and electronics. They work in power plants, electrical design, and automation industries.

Colleges Do Not Accept JEE Main

Many private engineering colleges in India offer BTech programmes without accepting JEE Main scores. Some of the colleges that offer BTech courses without JEE Main in 2025 are listed below:

BTech Courses without JEE Mains in 2025: Direct Admission Through Management Quota

Many private colleges provide direct admission through the management quota apart from the entrance tests. Through this admission process, students can secure a seat depending on the marks they have scored in 10+2 and the number of seats available at the institution. Management quota seats often cost more than seats available by JEE Main score. Candidates who want to take admission to BTech courses and are unable to score well in JEE Main can apply through this process.. However direct admission to BTech courses needs more financial stability.

Conclusion

Direct admission and state and university-level entrance exams are other ways to pursue a BTech degree without a JEE Main score. Students should check the different engineering colleges, and their eligibility criteria for admission, and select the one that best suits their professional objectives. Even without JEE, a good engineering career is possible with the correct direction and work.

Hi there,

hope you are doing fine

Yes, you can apply for any M.tech colleges in computer science field through GATE exams, some of the requirement you need to see that you must have Under graduate degree, Pursuing BE doesn't affect your eligibility, You may check some of the specific eligibility criteria of the colleges like IIT's in which you are interested, as some of them may have additional requirements.

With an SC category rank of 41,715 and a CRL rank of 570,173 in JEE Main, getting into NITs or top-tier IITs for B.E./B.Tech may be challenging. However, you might find options in state engineering colleges in Maharashtra, as they often have seats reserved for SC candidates with lower cutoff requirements compared to NITs. Look into state-level entrance options like MHT CET or other reserved category seats in Maharashtra’s government and private engineering colleges for better chances.
