What is PGD?

  • Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar offers one-year Postgraduate Diploma in Engineering (PGDIIT). The eligibility criteria for this course is that candidates should have obtained a minimum of 55per cent marks in B.E. /B.Tech./M.Sc. or equivalent in appropriate branches (50per cent marks for SC /ST).

  • National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) offers two year Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering (PGDIE). To be eligible for this program, candidates must have obtained at least 60per cent marks in graduation along with a valid GATE score.

  • Indian Maritime University, Mumbai Port Campus (IMU) offers Post Graduate Diploma in Marine Engineering (PGDME). Candidates must have secured a minimum of 50per cent marks in the final year and 50per cent marks in the English language at 10th or 12th or in Degree Exam in order to be eligible for admission.

CAT- Common Admission Test is a national-level entrance exam that is conducted by IIMs. It is conducted every year. To appear for CAT, candidates should have passed graduation with a minimum of 50per cent marks.

GMAT - Graduate Management Admission Test is conducted for admission into management courses in various institutes across the world. GMAT scores are valid for a period of up to 5 years from the date of the examination.

XAT- Xavier Aptitude Test is a national-level entrance exam conducted for admission into XLRI, Jamshedpur, and many other participating institutes across the country.

CMAT - Common Management Admission Test is conducted every year by the National Testing Agency. More than 500 AICTE-approved B-schools accept CMAT scores to offer admission to management courses.

NMAT - It is conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) for admission into NMIMS and many other management institutes.

PGD in Computer Application

Jamia Millia Islamia conducts its own entrance exam known as JMI. Jamia Millia Islamia entrance exam is conducted for admission into the PGDCA course at the university. In order to be eligible for the entrance examination, candidates should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in graduation.

Sardar Patel University conducts an entrance test for the PGDCA program. The admission into the course is conducted on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in graduation and their performance in the entrance examination in a ratio of 60:40. It should be noted that only those candidates who have completed graduation under the 10+2+3 pattern of this university or any recognised university.

Indian Statistical Institute Kolkata also conducts its own written test for admission into PGDCA courses. To be eligible for admission, A candidate must hold a graduate/postgraduate degree with a minimum of 10+2+4 years of formal education with Mathematics as one of the subjects from a recognized university/institute. Selection will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance examination and candidate’s performance in the interview.

PGD in Engineering

CIPET JEE - It is conducted by Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology (CIPET) for admission into diploma engineering courses offered by various CIPET campuses. Candidates looking for admission are required to qualify the entrance examination. Only qualified candidates will be called to participate in the further rounds of admission.

GATE - Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is conducted by IITs for admission into postgraduate engineering courses. There are many institutes that accept GATE scores for admission into a postgraduate diploma in engineering such as NITIE. Candidates are required to have a valid GATE score to be eligible for admission into PGDIE programme.

CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-CMERI) also conducts its own entrance examination for admission into the Postgraduate Diploma Programme in Advanced Manufacturing Technology (PGDAMT).

Indian Institute of Mass Communication is one of the most prestigious institutes offering PGD in Journalism. It conducts its own entrance examination for admission into the postgraduate diploma courses.
