What is the full form of CPT?

Common Proficiency Test is abbreviated as CPT. Which depicts that CPT stands for Common Proficiency Test. Common Proficiency Test is an entry-level test for students who want to pursue a career in Chartered accountancy. Any student who has passed the 10th board examination can appear in this test and even the applicants holding higher degrees can also appear in this examination. This examination is conducted for enrollment in the Chartered Accountancy course by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. To become an ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India) you must have to crack this examination. This examination is also termed as CA-CPT examination.

Basic Overview Of The CPT Examination

This examination is an objective paper. This exam is organized twice a year, especially in the months of June and December. As following the general trend this examination is also held on Sunday in both months. The examination form is available generally from the first week of April for the candidate giving a paper in June, and from the first week of October for the candidate giving a paper in December. For the medium of examination, students can opt for either Hindi or English. So based on their comfort, one can choose the language in which they are willing to attend the exam.

Who Is Eligible For CPT?

To be eligible for the CPT one should have the following requirements.

  1. Any student who has passed the 10th can enroll for this Institute of Chartered Accountants of India Exam.

  2. If a student wants to participate in the CPT they must have qualified from the 12th standard or equivalent level examination.

  3. And any student holding any degree above 12th like (B.Tech, B.Com, BBA …….) can also appear in this examination.

  4. The application form fee is Rupees 600 which can be downloaded from the official website of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India ( www.icai.org ).

1. What are the passing marks of the CPT exam?

The passing marks of the CPT exam are 70% and those who score 70% and above are declared as passed with distinction. And the candidates who receive 60% are given the merit certificate and placed on the merit list.

2. Is the CPT exam difficult?

In general, the CPT exam is difficult and lengthy. But it is completely based on the preparation of the individuals. If one prepares well for the exam it is easy for them to get a minimum of 70%. If one is dedicated and hardworking this will give a better result and there will be a great future ahead.

3. What are the items that the registration form consists of?

The registration form comprises the following items.

  • Proof of the date of birth

  • X mark sheet and pass certificate attested by the gazetted officer

  • XI mark sheet and pass certificate attested by the gazetted officer

  • If the student is a foreign student, proof of citizenship is required

  • Proof of residency like aadhar card, voting card, etc.

  • Proof of caste if the candidate belongs to SC, ST, or OBC.

4. What is the fee for the CPT exam?

To appear for the CPT exam one has to pay 6000 rupees for registration to the Common Proficiency Test. If anyone wants to subscribe to the student’s journal then they have to pay the extra 200 rupees and this subscription is for one year. There is also the possibility of subscribing to the member’s journal by paying the extra fee of 400 rupees for the one-year subscription.

  • Visit the official website that is the website for Institute of Chartered Accountants of India(ICAI).

  • Now we need to enter personal details like name, date of birth, address, educational qualification, etc.

  • Then submit the form and the registration process is completed successfully.
