ETPBS stands for Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System. It enables service voters to cast their vote. It is transmitted to service voters through electronic means that allow them to cast their vote on a postal ballot that has been electronically sent from anywhere outside their constituency. The Election Commission of India created it and looked over it. For the convenience of service voters, it was created. All eligible service electors now have full access to their constitutional right to vote while carrying out their duty as citizens because of ETPBS.
This approach, which has been put in place following the current postal ballot system, is a more straightforward choice for facilitating voter participation because it addresses the postal ballot's time-sensitive dispatch issue.
Service voters can use the ETPBS service from anywhere, including outside their constituency.
The system makes it easier to create voter service data from electoral roll data.
It is simple, effective, and trouble-free.
It has two layers of protection, making it a secure system.
Downloading an encrypted Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot file requires an OTP.
Because of the QR code, secrecy is preserved, and duplication is impossible.
Decrypting, printing, and delivering ETPB all require a PIN.
The main aim of ETPBS is that no voter should be left behind.
Service voters other than who opt for proxy voting (Classified service voters), the wife of a service voter who lives with him, overseas voters are eligible for ETPBS.
ETPBS is developed by Election Commission of India with the help of Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC).
ETPBS was released on 21 October 2016.
Those serving (outside the state) in Armed forces of Union, Member of Armed Police Force of a state, Government officer that is posted outside the country are included in service voters.
