West Bengal Joint Entrance for Lateral Entry
Admission to the BTech course through Lateral entry after Diploma in West Bengal is only provided on the basis of JELET. Now it means that you won't be able to give the examination although I would recommend you to contact the private colleges of your choice and get it discussed. Sometimes some private engineering college have exceptional course through which you may seek admission. Although I don't think that will be possible. But take a try.

See if you have complete Diploma in Mining Engineering then you are eligible for BTech through JELET provided you should satisfy the undermentioned eligibility criteria:
The candidate must have passed the diploma programme with minimum 45% aggregate marks (40% in case of SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, PwD) or equivalent CGPA.
As a result if you score very good in JELET then only you can expect the JELET and the rank you should expect must be in top 100 as JU have less seats and higher competition. Also if you want you can change your stream in your BTech.

Hello Sachin,
JELET is an entrance examination conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) for the admission of 2nd year Engineering, Technology and Pharmacy courses in participating universities, government colleges as well as self financing engineering and technological institutes under WBJEEB.
As you have mentioned that you are not a resident of West Bengal, so you cannot take admission in any reserved category seat in any college or in any Government College since you do not have the domicile certificate of the state but you can surely participate in the entrance test.
Hope this helps,
All the best!!
See for JELET in government the seats alloted are low as well as the number of government colleges participating in it. So its difficult for anyone to get a seat in government college.
If you are serious about your studies then you should target a rank under 500 to have a possibility of getting into government colleges. If you have solid preps try to score within 100. You will have great possibilities in Jadavpur, CoochBehar and Kalyani if you can achieve such a rank.
I hope my answer helps. All the very best for your future endeavors!
