Question : Bhavani spent 15% of his monthly income on kid’s education and 20% on food. 40% of the remaining she spent on sports and 30% on transport. She is left with an amount of Rs. 10,257 after all these expenditures. What is Bhavani’s monthly income?
Option 1: Rs. 45,800
Option 2: Rs. 48,000
Option 3: Rs. 52,600
Option 4: Rs. 81,965
Correct Answer: Rs. 52,600
Solution : Let Bhavani's monthly income be 100 units. Then after spending 15% of his monthly income on kid’s education and 20% on food, The remaining amount = (100 – 15 – 20) = 65 units 40% of the remaining she spent on sports and 30% on transport. So, the amount she is left with = (100 – 40 – 30)% of 65 = 30% of 65 = $\frac{39}{2}$ units According to the question, $\frac{39}{2}$ units are equivalent to Rs. 10,257. So, 100 units are equivalent to $\frac{10257×100×2}{39}$ = Rs. 52,600 Hence, the correct answer is Rs. 52,600.
