Is taking a drop year preparation successful for me?I was getting 70 percentile in April attempt 2020 .And Im from general category.
Hi Anupama,
Taking a drop and preparing for JEE can be good and cannot be. It depends upon the student that how he/she can prepare and whether will he/she be able to succeed in taking admission in any IIT or NIT with good percentile next year. If you think that you can bring percentile more than 93 that is approximately 94 to 95 then you must drop this year otherwise if you think that I will not be able to do then best thing is that you may take in any good private college or you can take the admissions in the state board government colleges. Best engineer and getting no college for which you are dropping then you must take admission now only.
I hope your question has been answered properly.
All the best for your future!

what is the syllabus of entrance exam for microbiology? which book is important for preparation of entrance exam? and when this exam will be conduct?
Hi Raaika
Pune University entrance exam is extremely simple if you are clear on your basics.
If there are just 15–30 days for your exam, it's time to work smart. So instead of giving you the entire syllabus (which is available on the website), I will just list out the topics that will make an appearance in the exam for sure.
Focus specifically on the following topics-
- Energy cycles- the steps, enzymes, total output of energy.
- Oxidative phosphorylation in detail
- Lipid cycle
- Photosynthesis, C4, CAM pathway is very important!
These four from Lehninger, any edition.
- Enzyme kinetics- vmax, km (Trevor Palmer is the best for enzymology)
- Central dogma of molecular biology (study the the enzyme and the role it plays in each step)
- DNA repair, recombination- very important
- Gene mapping, mendelian genetics, non-mendalian genetics - focus on blood group problems and inheritance patterns
Igenetics by Russell, Peter explains these in an easy way. Solve the problems at the back of each chapter.
- Immunology - MHC, antibody structure, complement pathway, vaccines, auto-immune disorders
Kuby should be your guide for this
- Medical Microbiology- bacteria and their morphology, culture techniques, media they grow in, diseases they cause, mechanism, prevention and treatment. Study only the important bacteria like Mycobacterium sp., Vibrio, streptomyces, staphylococcus, Anthrax. In viruses, study HIV, life cycle of T4 phage.
Ananthnarayan - any edition
- Antibiotics mechanism and their mode of resistance. I cannot stress on how important this particular topic is.
Refer to Microbiology by Tortora for this
- Go through your notes on citric acid, penicillin and beer-wine production
- Learn a few formulas for fermentation.
Cover these topics and you shall pass the exam with flying colors. Make sure you are calm and focused while writing the exam, as a chaotic mind can make a lot of careless mistakes.
Hope it helps :)
mht cet 12/th preparation tips
Hello aspirant
MH CET is a state level entrance exam. Aspirants are suggested to carefully cover the syllabus. Don't forget to revise regularly .
Students should follow the instructions given by previous year MH CET rank holders .
Here are some tips
• make proper time table - make time table and stick to it.Give definite time to each subject.
• Get your basic right - make a list of basic and fundamental things. Get a booklet of formulae. For organic chemistry , make sure to practice the reactions regularly as it is volatile subject but if you practice regularly then organic chemistry reactions will be on your finget tips.
• practice as many as mock tests, sample tests given by your tutor or institute.
• Don't be panic - study with a relaxed mood. If you study properly then it's easy to cope up.
• In the last seven days you only have to revise. Revise whatever you have completed . Don't start with new topic in last days. Revising make a firm base to your studies.

Is 1 month enough for preparation of SAT and ACT
Hi Hemanth
Yes, you can prepare for the ACT and SAT in one month. However, you will have to be very dedicated to the study process. I recommend that you take a practice test first to get a baseline score. I recommend using a study guide that has several tests that you can use. This guide will also analyze your scores based on the type of questions that you get wrong the most.
Then go through those questions and figure out which questions you got wrong the most. This would be where I would start studying.
Quickly familiarize yourself with the ACT and it unique attributes. This will help you in timing yourself so that you answer all of the questions. You will want to answer all of the questions even if you are guessing because guessing is not penalized but not answering is always wrong.
The week before the test take 1 more practice test and study the weakest points there. Don’t study on Friday before the test. Instead do something fun and active like. But make sure you are in bed early and you have packed all the essentials for the test.
The morning of the test, eat a healthy breakfast, dress in layers (in case it is cold/warm) bring your essentials and relax.
All the best !!
Hope it helps :)
