GH hormone stands for Growth Hormone. In humans, it is an important hormone for development. Growth hormone is a peptide hormone that is also responsible for growth, cell regeneration, and also cell reproduction in humans and other animals. About Growth Hormone (GH).

Growth hormone is produced by the anterior pituitary gland. These hormones are made up of 191 of amino acids that form a long single-chain polypeptide. Growth hormone is very important for normal physical growth. In human beings, the growth hormone is higher during childhood and during puberty, the level of growth hormone is at its peak. Growth hormone is stimulated by growth hormone-releasing hormone(GHRH). It is inhibited by somatostatin(it is a polypeptide hormone that inhibits the release of GH from the pituitary gland).

1. The excess amount of growth hormone is very harmful to our body. The most common disease of it is pituitary tumour. It causes an impaired version because of pressure on the optic nerve, also causing headaches.

3. Gigantism is also an effect of excess growth hormone because it can cause excessive growth thus resulting in pituitary gigantism.
