GSRTC stands for Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation. It is a transport system by the government for the people of Gujarat and other neighbouring states. It provides its passengers with bus services.
It came into effect on 1 May 1960. It started with a small beginning with only 7 divisions, 76 depots, 7 divisional workshops and around 1767 buses. But as time passes, it has grown to 16 divisions, 125 depots, 226 bus stations, 1554 pick-up stands, and 8703 buses. The 16 divisions of GSRTC are Ahmedabad, Amerli, Bharuch, Bhavnagar, Bhuj, Godhra, Himmatnagar, Jamnagar division, Junagadh division, Mehsana division, Nadiad division, Palampur division, Rajkot division, Surat division, Vadodara division and Valsad division. GSRTC has also started to train its drivers to learn how to fly planes and helicopters.
