History of GTPL

It was incorporated on August 21, 2006, at Ahmedabad as Gujarat TeleLink Private Limited, a private limited company under the Companies Act, 1956. The company was converted into a public limited company pursuant to the approval of the board at a board meeting held on August 23, 2016, and shareholders at an extraordinary general meeting held on August 26, 2016. It is the third-largest player in the telecom sector, with a market share of 22.7%. In 2006 it posted a net profit of Rs 602 crore, up 25% from the year earlier. Gujarat TeleLink, India's second-largest telecom company, and the world's fifth-largest phone company has joined BSE. The company has shown its shares on the NSE and BSE as well.GTL, which also operates in geographies as diverse as North America, Phuket and Hong Kong, posted 2006 a net profit of Rs 156 crore. In 2006, its operations in Malaysia, Hong Kong and the United States propelled its revenue growth to 8.1% from 2.5%. GTL is a fully-owned subsidiary of the Bharti Group. Bharti Airtel, India's largest mobile operator, posted a 40% rise in consolidated net profit for the year ended 30 June 2006. The company is also India's largest cellular service provider. Bharti's phone subscribers stand at 15.4 million, about half of Warid which dominates in the market
