IB is referred to as "Intelligence Bureau". This Indian intelligence organisation focuses mostly on domestic intelligence and terrorist issues. To enable them to take the necessary actions to protect the nation and its residents from threats both internal and external, IB provides intelligence agencies and police with information about suspicious activity. Counterintelligence and counterterrorism missions have also been assigned to the IB. IB's theme is "Jagrutam Aharnisham'', which means “Stay Awake Day and Night”. They serve as the foundation for our country's security. An investigative agency with highly sensitive secret sources and personnel is developed along with other aspects of the ministry of home affairs, such as border security management and anti-terrorism measures, in order to keep citizens secure. Employees at IB have different work profiles from those at RAW and CBI. They can work for the RAW, the CRPF, the airport protection division, and other internal security agencies. The Ministry of Home Affairs receives IB reports on domestic intelligence, preventing terrorist attacks and counterintelligence.
The Central Special Branch was the IB's original designation when it was founded in 1887. It is one of the world's oldest intelligence agencies. In 1968, it was split into two divisions: the "Research and Analysis Wing," which was in charge of handling foreign intelligence, and the IB, which was primarily in charge of handling national intelligence and surveillance.
Secrets are kept to the highest degree in the primary workplace culture.
The department contains a number of highly confidential accomplishments.
IB, nevertheless, has the audacity to contract or go before the media in a crisis. Bureau may even conduct operations or conduct a search without a warrant.
The way it operates keeps the other operational systems on high alert before any attacks take place.
An agency just cannot function so flawlessly as to prevent every attack from happening. One of the unsuccessful ones was the attack in Mumbai in 2008. Despite the fact that it is official information, the IB constantly alerted the headquarters about the attack.
The following duties are under the authority of the Intelligence Bureau officer:
Gathering confidential information.
The fight against terrorism must be vigilant.
Prepare yourself to handle any situation that may occur.
Gathering intelligence near borders.
Should continue keeping an eye out for any dangerous activity along the border.
