The full form of IVB is ING Vysya Bank. After purchasing stock holdings in Vysya Bank in 2002, the Dutch ING Group established IVB, an Indian multinational bank with retail, wholesale, and private financial services with headquarters in Bangalore.
This merger marked the first time an Indian and a foreign bank came together. Prior to this transaction, Vysya Bank and the former Belgian bank Banque Bruxelles Lambert, which was also acquired by ING Group in 1998, had a seven-year strategic collaboration and shareholding arrangement.
In order to serve the Vysya community, the IVB was formally incorporated in Karnataka in 1930. (a community of merchant traders in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh). In Karnataka at the time, it only benefited the Arcot Mudaliar group.
From 1930 to 1950, the Vysya bank conducted business in southern India.
The Vysya bank was observed by the RBI in 1958, and it was given a licence to allow for the national expansion of the banking industry.
On January 1, 1972, the RBI effectively upgraded it to a national B-class bank. Customers outside of the country may use any type of banking service that the B-class bank provides.
The official merger with ING Dutch Group was approved by the boards of directors of Vysya Bank and RBI in 2002, boosting its total stock interests from 20% to 44%.
Once more, the IVB opted to combine with Kotak Mahindra Bank on November 20, 2014, making it India's fourth-largest bank.
