JE stands for Junior Engineer. This post is the entry-level class in the field of professional engineering series. Office and fieldwork at this level are often responsible but less challenging. The Junior Engineers may appropriately replace vacant positions designated to Assistant Engineers. Every year, the JE tests are held to choose deserving individuals for administrative and technical positions in several departments. JE exams are conducted at state and central levels. Every state advertises jobs for junior engineer positions. JE candidates must keep an eye out for job postings on the official websites and dashboards. SSC JE is an examination administered by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). This test is intended for staffing JEs in all engineering fields, including Electrical, Quantity Surveying, Civil, Mechanical, and & Contracts.
Eligible applicants must have a minimum SSC JE qualification (educational) for the appropriate job. This is generally a minimum of graduation in Engineering or sometimes graduation in science for the subject relevant to the appropriate job. All candidates must have completed the Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate from a recognised board or must possess an equivalent degree.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old and no older than 32 years old to sit for the SSC JE test.
The SSC JE exam pattern includes two papers. Paper-I will be a computer-based exam, whereas Paper II will be a paper-based exam. Only those applicants who pass Paper I will be permitted to take Paper II. The paper will be objective and divided into three sections. In two hours, the candidate must answer 200 questions. Paper II will be descriptive. The exams will be based on the branch of engineering in which the applicant has a degree or diploma. The paper is worth 300 points.
The SSC will place the chosen JEs in the Group-B Non-Gazetted category. According to the 7th Pay Commission, all hired applicants would be paid as per the level 6 pay matrix (35400-112400). At the joining, the salary includes a basic salary of 35400 in addition to a few additional incentives and allowances. These benefits include House Rent Allowance, Dearness Allowance, Travel allowance, Medical Allowance, and other special allowances like leaves, recreational activities, etc.

The JE's salaries will be revised as a result of the promotion. The salary increase will be determined directly by the employee's performance and the 7th pay commission. They will go from SSC Junior Engineer to SSC Executive Engineer, then to Senior Section Engineer.
The current rate of dearness allowance is 17% under the basic pay of the 7th Pay Commission.
