The selected candidates list in AMU are for those who are selected for the particular course and have a confirmed seat and special category list contains the names of both who's names are there in selected candidates list as well as the chance memo list. Your chance will come only when you make the cut but for now you just have to wait. However it does not mean that you are not selected.

With reference to your query,  I would glad inform you that for persuing btech in any stream ,candidate must complete his 12th in the field of physics , chemistry ,maths or biology. I am very sorry to say that with commerce you are not eliglble to persue btech in any technical college

If you are not interested in food technology then don't take but yes hbtu is a good college and has brand name you can always get like minded people there who will improve your knowledge as competition there is good. You may take AMU if you get a desired branch or somewhat a decent branch. Second drop is always a risk so I won't advice you to take second drop. If you want a branch too badly then search for colleges having these branches and taking admission through management quota this might be the last option.

As the competition is concerned there is no fixed cut-off for entrance. It all depends on how many well prepared candidates appeared for the exam, question paper and if you are internal or external. All these conditions, added with the waiting list which gets cleared with the final admission decides the cut off.

The university does not release any cutoff. You need to score as better as possible. It will be wrong to say that this year, the cutoff is 80 or 70 or 65 etc. .If you score is 80/150( for external student) you name will be there in the selection list , and for internal students 70/150 is sufficient to get admitted to the  university. This data is subject to changes.

The key to score well is Mathematics. Physics and Chemistry are of NCERT level. So focus on Maths. Maintain speed and accuracy. And the difficulty lies in the fact that you have to go through 150 questions unlike your JEE Mains in which you have to go through 90 questions.

The expected cutoff for AMU b.tech  2020 for various category after seeing the previous year cutoffs trends are mentioned below-

General- 75-80

Reserved category- 70-75

External students- Above 70

Internal students - Above 60
