The Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & AH) degree falls within the Veterinary Education part of Medical Education in India, and is therefore monitored by the Veterinary Council of India. This programme focuses primarily on veterinary anatomy, veterinary physiology and biochemistry, and livestock production and management. The length of this course is about five years, including six months for a mandatory internship. The cost varies based on the institution. The requirements for the BVSc & AH program are as follows: You must be at least 17 years of age at time of admission, and pass the Intermediate Science (10+2) exam in the subjects of physics, chemistry, biology and English. Because of domicile restrictions and a limited number of seats available at each institution (generally varying between 30 to 80 seats), admission into the BVSc & AH is partially based on the applicant’s rank in the annual All India Pre-Veterinary Test, which must be taken as well. Animal husbandry and dairying is a diploma course of two years in National Dairy institute, Karnal. One academic session has two semesters of about 18 weeks.
Eligibility criteria:
10th standard or equivalent examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate for General &OBC and 40% for SC/ST, PH category.
The minimum age limit shall be 15 years on or before 31st July and the maximum age limit shall be 21 years. Maximum age limit for an in-service candidate shall be 45 years as on 31 July.
Admission process-
The admissions are done through the entrance examination conducted by the University. The examination is held at NDRI, Karnal and its regional stations at Bangalore and Kalyani in the month of May/June. The candidates are selected for admission on the basis of merit in the Entrance Examination and Counseling.
