How should my daughter prepare for IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) this year? Please see my previous questions to know her interests.
Dear Aspirant,
IISER Aptitude test is conducted every year and is one of the main channel of admission into IISERs.
The difficulty level of the examination is similar to JEE/ NEET exams and one can prepare for it whe preparing for the other competitive examinations.
For all subjects please refer to NCERT first to clear your concepts and then move on to the following reference books
For inorganic chemistry and biology focus only on NCERT.
MATH - Cengage/ Arihant publication series for concepts
Physics - H C Verma, solve every question of every chapter
Organic chemistry - Refer to O P Tandon for questions and tricky concepts
Physical chemistry - Refer to P Bahadur
You can refer to YouTube videos for getting a better idea of concepts whenever you have doubts
If you haven't done math/biology in your class 11 / 12, it's alright. Focus on revising easy topics from NCERT before the exam.
The exam is out of 180 and if you get above 110, you should be in a really good spot to get a seat in IISER.
Hope this helps.
My IISER Aptitude Test 2022 EWS rank is 296 and common rank is 5310. Will I get any IISER?
Dear Aspirant,
It is not easy to predict the exact cutoff and admission situation as it depends on a lot of unpredictable factors like the number of students attempting the exam, the preferences of the students and the seat matrix of the college.
There are about 1700 seats in IISERs and about 1300 are reserved for IAT Candidates and in this about 130 seats are reserved for EWS candidates.
Looking at this we can say that you have a good chance of getting into IISER Tirupati and Berhampur and a small chance of getting into IISER Mohali or Thiruvananthapuram.
Please check the link below for more details on the cutoffs.
Hope this helps.
can i get any iiser with 3907 rank in iiser aptitude test? what are the otions if any?
Dear Aspirant,
The predictions that I make here can't be accurate due to the following reasons that are High unpredictable
1. The number of students willing to take admission in the college
2. The seat matrix of the college
3. The number of students attempting the exam
4. Absence of official cutoff details from the IISERs.
There are 1300 seats reserved for IAT Candidates. Based on your rank we can say that you have a good chance of getting into IISERs in the last rounds. You have a good health of getting Berhampur/ Tirupati campus and a small chance of getting into TVM or Mohali campus.
Please check the link below for more details.
Hope this helps.
sir, I have a rank of 7997 in iiser aptitude test and 1712 in obc ncl category... do i have a chance of getting any iiser?
Dear Aspirant,
The possibility of you getting into IISERs depends on the following unpredictable factors.
1. The number of students attempting the exam
2. The seat matrix of the college
3. The number of students willing to take admission in the course.
There are only about 250 seats for OBC NCL candidates entering IISERs via SCB stream.
Based on this we can say that it is quite hard to get into IISERs but you have a decent chance of getting Berhampur campus in the last/post allotment rounds.
Please check the link below for more details.
Hope this helps.
Iam belong to ST category my rank in iiser aptitude test 2022 is 10,750(CRL) and my category rank is 80 which iiser I get
Dear Aspirant,
It is quite hard to predict the exact situation as it depends on the number of students attempting the exam, the order in which you have full your choice form and the seat matrix of the college.
1300 seats are reserved for IAT Candidates in IISERs.
7.5 percentage of these seats are reserved for ST candidates hence about 197 seats are reserved.
Looking at these statistics we can say that you have an excellent chance of getting into IISERs. You have a really good chance of getting into TVM, Mohali and Tirupati. A small chance of getting into Pune or Kolkata. These predictions are purely based on experience as we don't have any official cutoff details.
Hope this helps.

My son got 1176 allover rank (General) in IAT (IISER Aptitude Test), will he secure a seat in IISER Kolkata?
Dear Aspirant,
It is quite hard to predict the exact situation as it depends on the number of students willing to take admission in the college and the seat matrix.
There are about 1700 seats in IISER and about 1300 are reserved for IAT Candidates. Looking at this trend we can say that you have a really good chance of getting into IISER.
IISER Kolkata is one of the most preferred IISERs and hence it might be slightly difficult to get into it. You have a really good chance of getting IISER TVM or Mohali. You might get Kolkata in the last or post allotment rounds.
We do not have any official cutoff details from IISERs and hence the predictions are based on the previous year observed trends.
Hope this helps.
I got 2017 Overall Rank (General) in IAT (IISER Aptitude Test), will I secure a seat in IISER TVM?
Hello Aspirant,
Congratulations on your great result. The simple answer to your question will be a YES. Yes, you can get IISER TVM at a rank of 2017. Last year the cutoff for IISER TVM was around 2600. So you can get this college according to the previous trends. However, this is a prediction, so you should wait for the official allotment procedure.
