How to become an astronaut in Nasa ? I am a JEE aspirant , which course I have to choose to become an astronaut ?
Hello aspirant.
you want to make your career as an astronaut, make your decision-making skills strong. To become an astronaut, you have to be adventurous, mentally and physically strong because the selection process is rigorous and very competitive.
After passing the 12th examination, you are required to choose the Bachelor’s Degree course in relevant areas of specialization. You can pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Science & Technology. Admissions in these courses are offered on the basis of merit or entrance- exam conducted by the universities or at national level.
Students are required to select the college to pursue graduation in the STEM field and this can be done through proper research. Try to choose a college with industry tie-ups and collaborations so that one may gain internship and work experience while studying.

I am so depressed in choosing between medical amd non medical as i like the way people respect dr. and On other side I also want to become an astronaut , now i have chosen non medical but still i am confused that what i really want , please someone suggest me what should i do
Hey
Hope you are doing well.
Choose the way out of your passion and interest. Both the jobs are respected by people. What you enjoy to work in matters. Its your career, its not for a short while so you have to take a course where you are most interested. Both of them are good career options and have a good respect and value in society. If you like medical or want to be a doctor you can be that. If you want to become a astronaut or interested in celestial bodies choose that. It completely depends on your interest.
how can i become astronaut, what i have to study to become astronaut ? does i want to do aeronautical engineering ? I need details about it.. and i dont have money to pay , i also want to join the space ?? camps.. please help me it is my dream .
Hello!
Becoming an astronaut requires tremendous amount of effort. To start with, after finishing your tenth grade, you must start focusing on your career. You should opt for Science stream from 11th standard. After completion of 12th you may concentrate on obtaining a solid bachelor's degree from a reputable University or College. To pursue further study in the disciplines of Astronaut or Scientist, you must first get a bachelor's degree in engineering, biological sciences, physical sciences, computer science or mathematics. A bachelor's degree in astrophysics is a great place to start for aspiring astronauts. Astrophysics is a multidisciplinary field that encompasses physics, chemistry, mathematics, and cosmology.
How can we do astrophysics course after 12th to became an astronaut in canada or america? -Kindly Deepika
Hi Deepika,
After 12 standard, You should apply for bachelors degree of Astrophysics in reputed/Top universities in Canada or United States. After 4 years of course, You can apply for masters degree for 2 years and PhD for 2 more years followed by apprenticeship under great supervision. You become a scientist.
Apart from studies you have to complete test pilot program from a recognized pilot school. Astronauts required atleast 2 years of work experience as pilot for jet fighter aircraft or 1000 hours of flight certifications.
while undergoing all this you already hold PR (permanent Residence) for any of the above country and it will take more than 8 -10 years to complete all the above studies and you can apply for American or Canadian Citizenship. After All this studies you can apply for Astronaut in NASA, where you have to undergo many medical test and you have pass each and every single test. once you done with all this .. then you are ready to fly in zero gravity. But one thing its way too high risk then applying in Armed forces. So if you decided to be next Neil Armstrong, Kalpana Chawla or Sirisha Bandla. Go ahead . All the best . hope this information helps you to become astronaut and travel to space.
Thanks.
present I am going to study btech in aerospace engineering at SASTRA UNIVERSITY.i want to become an astronaut at nasa.what should I do further to become an astronaut at nasa?
After BTech in Aerospace Engineering from Sastra University, I'd give you few options, which would perhaps lead you to NASA or similar Space Research Organizations.
1. After BTech, pursue MTech from some of the Good/Top IITs or IISc Bangalore. Post which you may get a Job with ISRO or some Top Aerospace Manufacturing Company. After few years of experience, you may perhaps pursue a PhD in Aerospace & Avionics Abroad in US or maybe directly apply for Opportunities abroad. PhD options seems better as NASA recruits lot of PhD in Scientist Positions for various projects from Top Universities in US.
2. Other option maybe, directly moving to US for a MS/MS+PhD after BTech and hence opportunities in Industry, Research & Academia in the Aerospace, Avionics, Space Technology, Rocket Industry Abroad.
Yeah, secondly chances are bleak you'll be able to become an astronaut with Nasa. Usually they'll always prefer US Citizens. However you may be an excellent Flight Engineer or Rocket Systems Designer, who knows you maybe selected for a Mission as Specialist deep in future.
I am a girl..or Indian Air Force k liye hum graduation (bsc) krke bhi apply kr skte h?.. or m astronaut bnna chati hu to fir astronaut bnne k liye kitni degree chaiye ?
Dear Kanishka,
Yes, you can apply for Indian Air Force after graduation being a girl.
After you graduation in any technical stream in BSc with Physics, Chemistry and Math background you can apply for AFCAT or CDS. There is one other way too which is the special entry through NCC, this can be done by the help of you NCC cell of college or universities.
To check about exam pattern, syllabus and details like these, you can go through the link below.

Now coming to your second question which is what degrees are needed to be an astronaut.
See, if you want to become an astronaut after joining Air force, then you can be it by performing well in your job be it pilot or any posts and second important thing is you have to show the interest in astronaut related field like volunteer for astronaut related projects and if such situations arise during the works you have to show some skill in it. In fact some institutions related to astronaut prefer Airforce personal more over normal applicants.
Other than that if you normally want to be an astronaut then below is the educational qualification and eligibility criteria needed for it.
- In the STEM field or Aeronautical/Aerospace engineering, the candidate should be having Bachelor/Master/PhD degree.
- Medical fitness as required by them.
I hope this answer helps you.
Al the very best!!
can i become astronaut.....after join Indian Air force
Yes candidate, you can easily become astronaut. In fact, they prefer to select Indian Air Force pilots because it proves you are mentally and physically able to be part of a space mission, which shortens the training period. There are some other requirements too like speaking english language flying experience and some psychological requirements too.
Hope, it helps!
I am in class 12 th PCM . I wanna to be a astronaut ... which college should I have to choose... which graduation course I have to do...?
Greetings Dear Aspirant,
As you've already mentioned that you have PCM as your main subject in your class 12th and this is pretty good for being an astronaut.
So, To become an astronaut, what you need to do is to maintain a strong grip on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as these fields are very complex, pass your class 12th from a recognised board.
After your schooling is done, you should pursue a bachelors degree specifically in Engineering as you will have more chances in future. Then you need to hold a master's degree as more preferences are given to those students who have PhD and Master's degrees.
Colleges for Astrophysics courses:
- Indian Space and Research Organisation, Bangalore
- Punjabi University, Punjab
- IIT Bombay, Mumbai
- Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore
- IIT Madras,Chennai
- IIT Delhi,New Delhi
- Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai
- Delhi University
- IIT Kharagpur
- IIT Madras
Hope you get your answer.

can i become astronaut by choosing Bsc. in astrobiology?...if yes then how?...what should I do?... i am 12th PCB student... I want to become astrobiologist and astronaut too...can it possible?..
Dear Aspirant,
To be an Astronaut you need to be Fighter Pilot in Indian Airforce, ISRO select only Airforce Officers to assign them or send them on a mission as a Astronaut. To be an officer in Indian Airforce you need Physics and Maths as a compulsory subject in 12th, after that you can either join NDA or after b.tech, give CDS/AFCAT exam to complete your training from Airforce Academy. As you don't have Math's or not any above then this option is useless for you, talking to the second one
To be an Astrobiologist you just need a science degree with good marks and after that complete your PHD from the selective course, that's it. After completing your Master's degree you can apply for the post.
Best Of Luck!!!
