Computer science, Civil and mechanical are core branches. These three streams are evergreen. Automobile engineering is subset of Mechanical engineering. Any candidate with a B.Tech in mechanical is eligible to appear in automobile industry placement but converse is not true. Automobile Engineer will have tough time to get a job in core mechanical profile. That is why if you are interested to pursue automobile it is better to take mechanical.
