Does BITS pilani strictly follow the 60% criteria in each subject(PCM) to take admission there for B.Tech(CSE) program or provide some relaxation?

kumardurgesh1802 14th Apr, 2025

Hello Rohit,

Yes, BITS Pilani strictly follows the eligibility criteria for admission to its B.Tech (CSE) and other programs through BITSAT . There is no relaxation provided in the required percentage for any category (including SC/ST/OBC or others).

Eligibility Criteria for BITSAT 2025 (for B.Tech including CSE):

  1. Minimum Marks Required:

    • 60% or more in each subject : Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics individually

    • Aggregate of 75% or more in PCM combined

  2. Qualifying Exam:

    • Must have passed 12th class (or equivalent) from a recognized board in 2024 or 2025 .

  3. Subject Requirement:

    • Must have Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry in 12th.

      Important:

  • If you score below 60% in any one subject , you will not be eligible for admission, even if your total score is high or you do well in BITSAT.

  • BITS does not offer relaxation or provisional admission if you do not meet this minimum requirement.

If you’re unsure about your scores or need help calculating eligibility, feel free to share your subject-wise marks.

I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries, then feel free to share your questions with us, we will be happy to assist you.

How can I take admission in bits with cse

Aman Kar 11th Apr, 2025

To get into BITS, you need to give their own entrance test that is BITSAT

BITSAT:

    • This is the primary entrance exam for admission to BITS Pilani's undergraduate engineering programs, including CSE.
    • It's a computer-based online test that assesses your proficiency in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English Proficiency & Logical Reasoning.
    • Your performance in BITSAT is the most significant factor in determining your eligibility for admission.
  • Key Points about BITSAT:
    • It's a highly competitive exam.
    • The difficulty level is generally considered to be high.
    • Scoring well in BITSAT is crucial for securing a seat in CSE, as it's one of the most sought-after branches.

Important Considerations:

  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • You must have passed the 12th examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
    • There are also minimum percentage requirements in your 12th-grade examinations.
  • Application Process:
    • Keep a close eye on the official BITS Pilani admission website (bitsadmission.com) for important dates and announcements.
    • You'll need to fill out an online application form and pay the application fee.
  • Counseling and Seat Allocation:
    • After the BITSAT results are declared, BITS Pilani conducts a counseling process.
    • Seat allocation is based on your BITSAT score and your preferences.
  • Board Topper Admission:
    • BITS also has a provision for direct admission for board toppers, however, the specific rules for this can vary, so it is important to check the official BITS admission page.

Where to Find Official Information:

  • BITS Admission Website:
    • The official BITS Pilani admission website (bitsadmission.com) is your most reliable source of information. It will contain all the up-to-date details regarding the BITSAT exam, application process, and admission criteria.

Points to remember:

Focus on only and only on BITSAT.

Stay up to date with the official website.

Hope this helps.

I have got a 95% in my 12th from Telangana state board can I get a seat in bits Pilani or Hyderabad without writing BITSAT

harsh singh 6th Apr, 2025

BITS Pilani and BITS Hyderabad do not accept state board marks for direct admission, except for board toppers. Here’s what you need to know:

Admission Criteria for BITS Pilani/Hyderabad

1. BITSAT Exam – You must qualify for BITSAT, the entrance test for admission.

2. Direct Admission for Board Toppers – Only Telangana state board topper gets direct admission, not all high scorers.

I have a gate score of 534 out of 1000 and interested in bits pilani( pilani or hyderabad campus in me microelectronics or me embedded system). Will this gate score secure my admission or should I prepare for buts hd exam

Devanshi Goyal 1st Apr, 2025

YES, with a GATE score of 534 out of 1000, you do have a chance of securing admission to BITS Pilani (Pilani or Hyderabad campus) for the M.Tech. in Microelectronics or M.Tech. in Embedded Systems program. However admission in  BITS Pilani is quite competitive because the cutoffs vary based on several factors. Here i am telling you some previous year cutoff for BITS pilani

  • typically, BITS Pilani considers GATE scores and other criteria for M.Tech admissions. For Microelectronics and Embedded Systems, the cutoff may vary each year. In the past, the cutoff scores have ranged from 500 to 700+ for some branches.
  • Generally BITS pilani having higher cutoffs than hyderabad campus so it might be easy for you to take admission in Hyderabad campus.

If you are aiming for BITS Pilani and are unsure whether your GATE score will be enough for the program you're interested in, you might want to consider preparing for the BITS HD exam. The BITS HD (Higher Degree) exam is an alternative route for admission if you don’t meet the cutoff for direct GATE-based admissions.

Which one is best for mtech cse in iiith, iiitb, bits hydersbad

Devanshi Goyal 24th Mar, 2025

for a comparison of M.Tech in Computer Science from IIIT Hyderabad, IIIT Bangalore, and BITS Hyderabad. To determine which is the best option, consider factors such as: Reputation and Faculty: IIIT-H is highly reputed in tech and research, and it has strong industry connections. IIIT-B is known for its emphasis on practical skills and innovation. BITS Hyderabad has a solid reputation and a good blend of research and industry connections.Research Opportunities: IIIT-H is known for research-oriented programs, especially in AI, ML, and Data Science.Placements: All three institutions have strong placement records, but IIIT-H generally has an edge in terms of high-paying tech jobs.Campus and Infrastructure: IIIT-H and IIIT-B both offer modern campuses, but BITS Hyderabad also offers strong infrastructure and facilities.

My son got 95.2% perceile in JEE mains first attempt ,wants CS have applied in manipal, vellore, ComedK, and BiTs. in Bits he is ok with electronic and communication in Goa also. Do I need to apply more colleges ,we dont want SRM. Between Symbiosis and Kalinga which is better (Wont give jee advance)

kumardurgesh1802 12th Mar, 2025

Hello there,

Your son has a strong 95.2% percentile in JEE Mains, which gives him a good chance for CS in decent colleges through COMEDK and Manipal. Here's a clear plan:

  1. Current Applications:

    • Manipal: Good chance for CS at Manipal or Jaipur campus.
    • VIT Vellore: High chance of getting CS in the second or third category.
    • COMEDK: Likely to secure CS in top colleges like RV, BMS, or MSRIT with that percentile.

    • BITS: If he's comfortable with ECE in Goa, that's a strong backup option since BITS has good placement in both CS and ECE.

  2. Additional Applications: No need to apply to more private universities unless you want extra backup.

  3. Symbiosis vs Kalinga:

    • Symbiosis: Better for management and business fields, not as strong in engineering.

    • Kalinga (KIIT): Better for engineering with strong infrastructure and placement in CS and IT fields.

Recommendation: KIIT is a better choice for engineering.

Overall, the current options (Manipal, VIT, COMEDK, BITS) are sufficient for CS. KIIT could be a backup, but Symbiosis is less suitable for CS.

I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries, then feel free to share your questions with us, we will be happy to assist you.

Im a 12th repeater , I wasnt able to give my papers due to illness can u tell will it affect my cv in future if im in ver big college like iit , iiit , nit or bits placements....and do companies reject all 12th fail from get go???

Ankit 7th Mar, 2025

Being a 12th repeater due to illness will not significantly impact your future placements if you perform well in college. Top institutes like IITs, IIITs, NITs, and BITS prioritize skills, academic performance, and internships over past setbacks. While some companies have strict eligibility criteria, many focus on technical knowledge, projects, and experience rather than a gap in 12th grade. To strengthen your profile, maintain good grades, gain relevant skills, and work on internships or projects to showcase your capabilities during placements.
