If you want to become a captain in Indian Army service/ Indian Navy then you have to do the following things for achieving this post:
- You are required to clear your 12th class with physics chemistry and mathematics is compulsory subjects.
- You need to to appear for National Defence Academy or CDS or TES or TGC entrance examination.
- After the completion of training and 2 years service, you can become captain in Indian army service.

No it is not possible for you to join Indian army because of the following reasons as mentioned by Indian army officials on their official website:
- Only those girls are selected who are unmarried and having unmarried certificate. Such candidate will not be allowed to marry until the completion of her training.
- The girls who are widowed divorced or legally separated can also be eligible on the basis that they do not have any children.
- Even those girls whose husbands have died in harness will also be considered eligible for Indian army.

What time period it tajes to become a captain after deck officer in merchant navy
In the Merchant Navy if you want to progress to be a Captain of the ship then you have to give a competency exam at each stage, the qualifying aspect of giving specified exam and acquiring the specified sea time.As a Deck Officer you can appear for the exam after having 18 months experience as Chief Officer. Once you clear Master exam, you can be promoted to Captain Rank by your company.
And generally it takes 10-11 years to become a Captain.
