I did not self attest my obc certificate in cat application. what should I do?
Hope you are doing fine! Below are the categories who get benefits of reservation in CAT -
- As per the Government of India requirements, 15% of the seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) and 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates. 27% of seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to the non - creamy layer (NC - OBC).
To avail the reservation benefits one must upload the catagory certificate at the time of CAT registration. In case of other mba colleges you might get chance to apply separately as many mba colleges take separate applications for admission after cat exam. But in case of IIMs candidates will be shortlisted for interview based on their application while registration for cat, during the selection process they need to produce the documents for verification. But in your case if you have not attached catagory certificate at the time of CAT registration you will be shortlisted as per general cutoff. Below I have provided you previous year cutoff for different IIMs.
- IIM Ahmedabad - 85 percentile
- IIM Bangalore - 85 percentile
- IIM Calcutta - 85 percentile
- IIM Lucknow - 90 percentile
- IIM Indore - 90 percentile

Sorry last week of September 2021 I have to meet correction or your 12th class examination certificate.
Hope this helps.
I have my EWS certificate issued by the competent authority in the exact format asked in the CAT application form. Can I upload the same and do I need to self attest the certificate?
Hi Saket. Yes you need to self attest the certificate so that the verification can be done. For self attesting, you need to take out a photocopy of your original EWS certificate ( preferably color print) and then sign the document at the bottom right. If there are more than one page, you need to sign all the pages and then scan and upload the document. Hope it helps.
i have done Bcom (Hons.) then what to fill in discipline in cat application form
hello,
hope you are doing well,
firstly discipline means, the subject of graduation or degree in which you have completed your degree, hence in total this means the degree in which you have qualified. For example, suppose you hold a BSc in botany. That means your qualifying degree discipline is BSc botany. That is all. so in discipline column you just have to write bcom(hons).
best of luck!
hope i answered your query
I completed my Bachelors of Science degree in Mathematics stream. While filling CAT application I found the Discipline field has "Bachelor of Science - Master of Science" option. Should I select that? if not, what should I select?
You can fill the current qualifying degree and the qualified degree. If you aren't getting a specific name, you can fill the Bachelor's of Science as the degree.
Good Luck!
