If I want to do MBA after CA or CS which is best for me

Shagufa Zareen Student Expert 5th Apr, 2019

Dera Yash,

If you are from science background you cannot join CA and if you are from commerce then you cannot join CS so irrespective of your stream. Choose wisely and also for doing MBA you just have to have a graduation discipline.

I hope you got your answer.

Good luck.

If I fill 1step wrong during CA foundation registration then can I correct that step Or again can I register for ca foundation

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 5th Apr, 2019

Dear Sushmita, there are two things to it. You are still in the process of filling in the application form. In such case, as long as you haven't submitted the application form, you can go back and make the necessary changes. But for that option, the application filling process has been closed. The other thing is you have submitted the application form and then realised the mistake in the form. Unfortunately the correction window has been closed and you cannot edit the application form any more. Sorry to disappoint you but there is nothing that can be done at this point in time.

Can I do ca foundation registration with General category but I am OBC

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 5th Apr, 2019
Dear Sushmita, CA is one professional course which doesnt have any reservation for candidates of any category. You become a CA by the virtue of your merit and not by any category. So even if you belong to OBC but have filled in the application form as General Category student, it is still fine. There is no damage being done to your profile/application.

what i have to study for CA course?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 5th Apr, 2019

To start your journey, you should be registered with ICAI to be eligible to appear for CA Foundation.

CA Foundation: While there is no particular stream in which students should have pursued their studies, it is mandate to have passed 10+2 to be eligible for CA Foundation. There is a 4 month study period that is mandatory and needs to be completed before appearing for the exams. There are 4 papers in this exam and to be qualified its important to pass in all the papers with a minimum aggregate of 40% individually and a total aggregate of 50%. 2 papers are Objective type and 2 papers are Subjective type with negative marking for 2 papers. The subjects are Principles and Practises of Accounting, Business alaw & Business Correspondence and Reporting, Business Mathematics & Logical reasoning and Statistics, Business Economics & Business Commercial and Knowledge. For example, the score should be 40/40/40/40 in every subject and 50% overall. Even if a student gets 50% or above overall but doesnt get 40% in any one subject, he/she doesn't qualify. He/She is considered failed. And in the same manner, even if he/she passes all subjects but scores less than 50% over all, again he/she is considered failed. The 4 months training period should be able to equip the students with the required knowledge on all these subjects and that's the reason why it is not necessary to have a Commerce background in  10+2. The exams are held in May and November of every year.

CA Intermediate:  This is the 2nd level of becoming a CA. There are 2 routes for this phase. One is completing CA Foundation and the other is a direct entry.  Graduates/Post graduates of Commerce/Non Commerce background can directly join CA Intermediate provided they clear their qualifying examination with the required aggregate. You need to be  registered with ICAI for CA Intermediate for both the ways. There are 8 papers in CA Intermediate that are both Subjective and Objective type. And the same pass rule applies here as well. Should score above 40 in each subject with an average aggregate of 50%. The subjects are divided into 2 groups. Group 1 has Accounting, Corporate Laws and other Laws, Cost and Management Accounting, Taxation. Group 2 has Advanced Accounting, Auditing and Assurance Enterprise Informations Systems and Strategic Management  and Financial Management and Economucs for Finance. For Direct entry Commerce Graduates,  it is important to have 50% aggregate in their qualifying examination and for Non Commerce Graduates, 60% aggregate is mandatory. And then there is a mandate period of Orientation period and study period. In CA Intermediate as well, the exams are conducted in May and November of every year.

CA Final: The Chartered Accountants Final Exam has 2 groups namely Group 1 and Group 2. Group 1 has Fiancial Reporting, Strategic Financial Management, Advanced Auditing and Professional Ethics, Corporate and Allied Laws. Group 2 has Advanced Management Accounting, Information Systems Control and Audit, Direct Tax Laws and Indirect Tax Laws. The eligibility is that you should have passed your CA Intermediate and registered with ICAI. You should have completed the mandatory 12 months Practical Training or Articleship or should be in the 12th month of training by the time of examinations. And the pass rule applies here as well. After the succesful completion of all these levels, you are now a qualified CA.

Which is best branch in bcom for CA or CS

Sourav singh 8th Nov, 2021

hello indhumathi,

ICAI conducts the CA exams list in India consists of 3 names – CA Foundation, IPCC and CA Final. Candidates need to clear the entire CA exam list in order to become a professional in this field.

where as, BCom is a 3-year Undergraduate program that focuses on subjects related to commerce, Economics, Business Law, Accountancy, Taxation and finance.

If you are a disciplined and focused kind of student, I suggest you to pursue CA and bcom simultaneously. CA foundation and 1st semester bcom are almost the same but the only thing is CA is a bit difficult compared to bcom as far as CA Foundation is concerned. BAF will absolutely right choice if we want to pursue CA with b.com (//b.com)

BAF/B. Com (A&F) i.e. Bachelor of Accounting and Finance/ Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance is an undergraduate programme which was introduced by the University of Mumbai in the year 2003-04. It is a 3-year self-financing degree course spread across six semesters i.e. two semesters a year, focusing on the domains of Accounting and Finance. It also provides opportunities to gain a broader insight into the financial aspects of Business and Management. The objective of introducing this course was to enable self-employment and provide skilled professionals in the field of Accounting & Finance to organisations.

BCom with CA is divided into six semesters. Various topics such as financial accounting, economics, company law, corporate tax, auditing, business management, etc., and many more are present in BCom Syllabus to increase the skill threshold of the student.
