Sir I am a College Teacher in Zoology with NET/SET Qualified.Besides i am teaching immunology to final year students there.I want to pursue Phd in immunology at SKIMS srinagar.Am i eligible.?
Hello Aspirant,
Yes , you can very well do PhD along with your teaching job. You will have better prospects and preference as you are a NET qualified candidate but try clearing NET JRF exam , because with JRF qualification you will get stipend . I assume , you are expecting to do PhD in another university and not where you are teaching. In that case you may have to get an NOC (no objection certificate) from your current college. It would be better to directly contact the department in SKIMS Srinagar and ask about the procedures and requirements to get a clear picture. Also think about whether you want to do a full-time or part-time PhD, and decide accordingly. If you are not able to do in the desired college , then you can easily do it in your current college , and it would be easier to manage. As you are already a faculty there, the college would also give you more preference. You may do the same at SKIMS Srinagar too, teaching and research , I suggest you to learn about TRF (teaching research fellowship ) and see whether it a possible option for you.
All the best.
