Define a wavefront. Using Huygens geometrical construction, explain with the help of a diagram how the plane wavefront travels from the instant t1 and t2 in air.
Hi,
Wavefront :- A wavefront is a locus of all particles of medium vibrating in the same phase.
Huygen’s Principle :- There are some phenomena like interference, diffraction and polarisation which could not be explained by Newton’s corpuscular theory. They were explained by wave theory first proposed by Huygen.
The assumptions of Huygen’s theory are :
A source sends waves in all possible directions. The locus of particles of a medium vibrating in the same phase is called a wavefront. For a point source, the wavefront is spherical; while for a line source the wavefront is cylindrical. The distant wavefront is plane. Each point of a wavefront acts as a source of secondary wavelets. The envelope of all wavelets at a given instant gives the position of a new wavefront. Proof of Snell’s law of Refraction using Huygen’s wave theory : When a wave starting from one homogeneous medium enters the another homogeneous medium, it is deviated from its path. This phenomenon is called refraction. In transversing from first medium to another medium, the frequency of wave remains unchanged but its speed and the wavelength both are changed. Let XY be a surface separating the two media ‘1’ and ‘2’. Let v1 and v2 be the speeds of waves in these media.
Hope this helps.
i have 7.24 cgpa at b.tech,75.12% at 10th ,76. 8at12th,4 year work experience at construction industry, what is probablity to get good colleges
Dear Student ,
I think you're talking about admission in M.Tech colleges ,
Well, to get admission in M.Tech colleges after B.tech , you need to appear for GATE exam ,
GATE exam stands for Graduate aptitude Test for Engineers .It is conducted by 23 IITs and IISc Bangalore . Individual IITs conducts this exam once in a year .
Basic Eligibility is :
- Graduation in B.Tech or Masters in any Science related domain
Age : No upper limit
If you can qualify the GATE with a good marks after clearing the cut off , there will be a huge chances to get admission in TOP institutes like IIT or NIT .
Check GATE previous year cut off from here :

Hope this helps !
i have 7.24 cgpa at b.tech,76.8% at H.Sc ,75.12 at secondary, and 4 year work experience at construction industry,is it good to get top mba colleges?
Dear aspirant,
It's a pretty average score and so you need to score very high percentile in cat to secure seat in colleges iim ahemdabad,Calcutta, Lucknow, Indore, Bangalore, kohzikode.
Although various factors are considered while deciding the cut offs like number of candidates appearing in the examination, number of vacant seats in college, previous years cut offs and difficulty level of the paper.
Construct an angle of 90° at the initial point of a given ray and justify the construction in.
