34 thousand is a decent rank

But getting into top colleges with top course like cse ECE is tough 

U can get other branches 

It is up to you whether you are branch oriented or college oriented

I can understand your concern. I think Acharya institute of technology has better rankings as per student ratings. AIT has 7.2 score and HKBK has 6.2 score out of 10. So I think you should decide based on this

On the other note both the colleges are affiliated under VTU, hence would not make much difference with respect to syllabus
