I think you can't give CSIR NET exam as you are from Ciivl Engineering (as mentioned).
Only CSE and it's subordinates aren allowed to give CSIR NET. The rule changed in 2015 i think.
You can give GATE exam which is more than equivalent to CSIR NET.

No, you cannot apply for PG course in Environmental Engineering because you have done your bachelor's in Chemical engineering and the eligibility criteria for doing Pg in Environmental engineering requires that a candidates must hold a degree in Bachelor of Engineering/B.Tech in Environmental Engineering along with a good score in entrance tests held for PG program held by the various state, central, and private universities.

Sir/Mam, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organizing the exam for different Engineering disciplines. Why Environmental Engineering is not added in the listed Engineering disciplines. Think About it.

The number of vacant seats is highly responsible for this. Now this does not mean that the industries won't be requiring any input at environmental aspect but the thing could be they won't be having any vacancy for the given post as of now. Most of these industries try to regulate the environmental related issues by adhering to the laws and regulations formulated by the government thus in this case it comes down to following those.

There is no doubt that every courses have some pros and con. But, in this fast growing world of technology, both CSE and Environmental Engineering are very useful. If you will opt CSE branch for your further studies, then you can be a placed in good tech company with a high package. But ,if you opt for environmental engineering there are possibilities that you can get job in government sector.
