I got 91%/58%/62% in 10th,12th and graduation respectively. I am from SC category. can it be possible to convert admission into any of iims, fms and xlri? how much i will get from 5% of my 12th with 58% marks?
Hello Vivek,
IIms. XLRI and FMS are the top management colleges of India which provide approx 90% campus placement. Most of the students are willing to get admission in these college as these are the best. IIMs are taking students from CAT and XLRI and FMS take the students from their own entrance exam.
Getting admission in management college not only depends on your entrance exam results. It comprises of different curricular activities like Group Discussion, Personal Interview and some colleges also set some points on 10, 12 and graduation marks of the students.
As your 12th and graduation marks are no so strong but you can still get admission in these college, Firstly you have to crack their entrance exam so that they allow you to appear in GD and PI. If you have good speaking as well as thinking skill then you definitely cracks their GD and PI. So don't panic for your less marks in 12th and Graduation. Never loose your hope.
Good Luck!

hi team. i am ST category guy.. i have my graduation. can anyone help me how to convert FMS?
Praveen, FMS Delhi usually has the highest cut offs for its 200 seat intake. The selection process includes 3 stage method. They are:
Eligibility Criteria
Group Discussion and Personal Interview
Final Selection
The basic eligibility criteria remains 50% aggregate for General Category in Graduation and 45% for Reserved Categories or equivalent CGPA from any recognised University. The percentiles in CAT are considered for the further rounds. In 2019, the weightage given for various sections of CAT have been as follows:
QA: 30%
DILR: 30%
VARC: 40%
An additional 3 marks are added to the Composite score in case of women for shortlisting. This score is used only for shortlisting Candidates for Personal Interview. The weightage for Final selection is as follows:
Personal Interview: 15%
CAT score: 60%
Group Discussion: 10%
Extempore: 5%
10th marks: 5%
12th marks: 5%
An additional 3 marks of the maximum aggregate will be added to the women candidates who have attended the Interview. Now with all this process, the cut offs is an important issue to be discussed. Previously FMS used to consider overall CAT score for shortlisting. However since the past 2 years, FMS has been giving sectional preference and weightage. VARC occupies the top position with 40% weightage. A Candidate with at least 97 sectional weightage will be shortlisted at FMS. So it is important to focus more on VARC section while not leaving other sections.
NCERT books will sharpen your basics and you need strong basics for preparing for any entrance examination. Once your basics are in place, because the time period for preparation is quite less, your preparation should be extensive and thorough.
Quantitative Aptitude covers almost 30% of the CAT question paper. QA can be categorised into Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Advanced Mathematics. Practise chapter by chapter and develop mental calculations. Like practise more of basic summation, subtraction, fractions and tables. Numbers, Percentage, Profit and Loss, Simple and Compound Interest, Ratio, Proportionality, Time-Distance, Time-Work, Mixtures, Averages, Partnership, Permutation and Combinations, Probability, Set Theory, Progression and Series, Line, Angles, Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Polygon, Circles, Ares, Volume, Height and Distance, Coordinate Geometry, Basic Trigonometry are few important topics.
Preparation tips:
Because this section involves mathematics and takes most of your time, your focus should be on solving the problems efficiently in the beginning. Even if it takes time, practise upto perfection. Practise as many questions as you can in the conventional way. As and when you get a grip on the subject, you can go for short cuts. Memorise tables, square roots, cube roots, conversion from percent to fraction, etc. Solve sample papers on Mathematics. In the beginning, do not worry about the time it takes. As you practise, you will get the hang of the subject and it will be easier for you.
In Verbal Ability session, command on your English, Grammar, Vocabulary, Understanding of the given paragraph are of more importance. Reading English NewsPaper will also help you in your preparation.
Preparation tips:
Read articles from time to time. Follow newspapers, magazines, and watch the news channels and browse the internet to keep yourself updated. You will need a lot of reading to help you in the comprehension section. You will need speed to help you in this section and you can achieve that only by thorough practise and reading. Take time to understand the question because most answers are interlinked.
Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning needs to be practised as much as possible. Comparison of data, Data Analysis, taking clues, interpreting missing data, coming to conclusions and making future projections will be covered under this Category. The questions here are interlinked and so if you get one formula correct, cracking the next few questions will be easy. So it's important to memorise and practise formulae. You should cover topics like Data tables, Data Charts, Bar Diagrams, Pie Charts, Graphs, Data Comparison and Analysis.
Preparation tips:
As this is the most tricky section, this needs a lot of practise. Solve as many sample papers as possible to get the hang of the section. Make notes when required. Regular practise can help you understand and solve the questions easily as time goes on.
Overall, once you know the syllabus, it's easier from there on.Go through the previous papers to analyse and prepare a comprehensive plan and set priorities according to the importance of different topics across sections. Customise your own study plan based on your strengths and weaknesses. Gauge your preparation from time to time by taking mock tests. Solve questions to check your levels of preparation but not to set any targets. Remember, its ok to have cheat days and relax. But make sure you have a plan and stick to it for the next few months.
why does FMS shortlisted the candidates for the two times in 2020?
FMS has released a shortlist of 2750 Candidates on March 12th for an intake of 275 seats. This shortlisting was done on the basis of CAT score alone. This means 100% weightage was given to CAT score cut offs with varying sectional weightage for shortlisting the Candidates for the final selection round. So that is the first shortlist. And then the shortlisted Candidates go through Group Discussion and Personal Interview. This year Group Discussion round was dropped. And so the 275 Candidates were shortlisted on the basis of Personal Interview and that was the final shortlist. Hence 2 shortlists. Infact this is the same every year.
Does FMS delhi accepts correspondence degree from recognised university..
Dear Student,
Yes you can get admission into FMS , there is no problem.
Eligibility: Must have Bachelor's Degree in any discipline after 12 years of formal schooling with a minimum marks of 50% marks (SC/ST : PASSING MARKS; OBC/PWD/CW:45%) OR equivalent CGPA. Candidates appearing for the final year examination of graduation degree may also apply for this.
Thank You.
I have done degree B.COM general in distance education .. will that impact converting FMS Delhi for MBA
Praveen, FMS Delhi has many criteria on which it accepts your admission. It will depend on your score in the B Com, CAT percentile, School Grades, Interview, and many more. And yes probably a student with a regular degree would be ranked above the one with a distance degree.
Hope this helps! All the best!!
Hi team. I have 8.5GPA in X, 82% in XII, and 72% in degree.. now i wanna convert FMS. then how much should Ive to get in CAT? and am ST category...
Hey there
As FMS delhi does not consider graduation marks your chances of getting FMS delhi is more if you get a good score in CAT. For ST category the cutoff is low and your 10th and 12th marks are good and thus as per previous year figures minimum composite score in CAT is around 19.33. Anyway aim to get more than 95 percentile to have fair chances of converting fms delhi.

Good luck
why FMS two times released provisional list in the yr 2020?
Hello praveen,
As you should know that FMS has released a shortlist of around 2750 candidate for around 275 seat and the shortlisting was done on the basis of CAT score only. Further students who got selected go for other rounds like personal interview and so on. But this year they have dropped GD round so the final list that came out was based on PI selected students.
Hope it will help!
What is the qualification and CAT Score Percentile required to pursue MBA/PGDM from FMS Delhi ?
Eligibility Criteria
Group Discussion and Personal Interview
Final Selection
The basic eligibility criteria remains 50% aggregate for General Category in Graduation and 45% for Reserved Categories or equivalent CGPA from any recognised University. The percentiles in CAT are considered for the further rounds. In 2018, the weightage given for various sections of CAT have been as follows:

Higher cut offs are due to the intensity of the competition at FMS, Delhi. Their placements speak for themselves. FMS, Delhi concluded 2018 placements with an average placement package of 22.60 Lakhs for Women Candidates. Out of a batch of 223 Students, 215 participated in Placements and all of them have been placed there by leaving FMS, Delhi at the top in 100% Placement Companies. Though 133 companies participated in Hiring process, 83 companies could make the recruitment offers. For all this to materialise and be shortlosted, you will need more than 98 percentile in CAT.
What are my chances of getting a call from the top 6 IIMs, SPjain or Fms If I manage to score 99.6+ in CAT? My Past academics are as follows(X=10 cgpa, XII- 92 and Btech 82%). Im a fresher and a GEM.
Dear Aspirant,
Your academic scores are fair enough to get admission in the colleges like IIMs , SP Jain and FMS
If you managed to get 99.6 overall than there are fair chances for you to get in top IIMs , SP Jain and FMS
See it to it you clear the sectional cut off also. Along with this prepare yourself for GDPI as the selection process consists of these too.
