Whic course is good merchantdising or fashion designer
Hello,Priya
In my opinion both merchandising and fashion design are equally good.
However basic knowledge of merchandising is covered while learning fashion design.Fashion design requires a lot of creativity, skills, talent to be on the top. One really needs to be passionate about designing to become a good designer.
Merchandising surely is a technical field in fashion ,but fashion merchandisers are experts who know intricate design elements of a design , which I think is better developed after pursuing fashion designing.
Career options
merchandising :
marketing,sales,advertising,fashion promoter,supplier,fashion manager,retail store manager etc.
Fashion design:
Designer,stylist,blogger,advisor,garment construction expert,costume designer,fashion,marketing,merchandising, journalist,illustrator etc.
As you can fashion designing gives more better job perspective than merchandising. So according to me fashion designing is better than merchandising .If your still confused you can opt for bachelors degree in fashion designing and then do masters in merchandising.
Hope your query is answered.

Who makes more money: interior designer or fashion designer?
Both Interior Designing and Fashion Design are equally good and can'y be measured on any scale. You can earn well in both but there is no guarantee which will pay you more. Both Interior Designing and Fashion Designing are lucrative and most sought- after proffessions. The competition is tough as the creative and work efficiency of the market is expanding every minute. Having good communication skills and creative approach will help you thrive in these industry but cannot vouch for " a good pay". Moreover, you cannot(should not) start off on a new journey by taking into consideration just monetary aspects. The pay might be initially low but over the time, with your dedication and hardwork you will earn good. So first off,be patient and be sure of your calling. Make opportunities come your way and just for once work for the sake of learning something.
Hope this helps.
Good luck.
Who makes more money : interior designer or fashion designer?
Hello Jyoti,
Interior design is a branch of design that covers the designing of the interiors of a room or building. It includes the development of a concept, up to the actual execution of the design. Your degree will expand your understanding of the human need, user experience, site context, and culture.
Fashion designers create original clothing, accessories, and footwear. They sketch designs, select fabrics and patterns, and give instructions on how to make the products they design.
Both are totally different fields with different requirements. If you have a good knowledge of that field then you can earn a good amount of money.
Hope it helps you
Thank you

Should I really be good at sketching to become a fashion designer ?
Hi Saivaishnavi,
To become a successful designer, being good at sketching will definitely be an advantange. Designers sketch their inspirations, ideas and come up to their final designs only after a lot of exploration and illustration. Quick sketching helps them to communicate with thier clients in an effective way. But sketching is just one part of the job. Designers need to be educated and aware about everything from materials to current affairs, One need to be strong and confident in their design concepts, design process and vision. A vision to be better and different.
If you are a person with basic drawing skills and decent understanding of art mediums and materials, you can still make it to become a successful fashion designer. You need to be ready and cuious to learn new things and have your own voice in your works. Because, Design is not art, its applied arts where u need to be much more than an artist or an illustrator. There are few designers who made it big inpsite of being average in their illustration skills.
Designers are known for thier design process and unique style that make them irreplaceable.Being a design student I personally come across a lot of people who take up the course or fashion design career only because of their interest or skills in sketching. But honestly, thats not enough.
Anyone can become a designer if they are hard working, willing to learn new subjects and be dedicated to their work. Fashion business demands a lot from you. If you believe you have what it takes, then you can definitely become a successful designer. Focus on what you are good at and make it your strength also try to be consistent in all the subjects.
Anyways Sketching is a skill more than a talent, u can totally be good in it if you practise more without giving up.
All the best.
