which is better b.tech in food technology or b.tech in food engineering and technology?
Hi,
Hope you are doing good.
If we compare these two, we will find the slightest difference among them in terms of curriculum, career scope. And judging these courses depends upon various things like your area of interest, the institute in which you got the admission.
Btech in Food Technology is a useful course for students who are interested in understanding the practical implementation of food science.
whereas B.Tech in Food Engineering provides complete knowledge of Food Engineering and Food Science concepts. Some of the subjects include Food Packaging, Nutrition Science, and Food Manufacturing.
In my view, both are good courses it just depends upon your preference like in which course do you have an interest.
Hope it helps.
what is difference between b.tech in food technology and b.tech in food engineering and technology?
Dear aspirant !
Hope you are doing great ! However there is no such a large difference between the two but yet a slight difference only and is that, Food Technology deals with the production processes that make foods. Whereas, Food (Process) Engineering deals with microbiology, applied physical sciences, chemistry and engineering for food and related industries.
Also career opportunities in both the field is vast and good you can choose according to you with your preferences.

what is difference between food technology and food engineering?
Hello Aspirant.
Hope you are doing well.
Food technology is a branch of food science that deals with the production, preservation, quality control and research and development of the food products. Early scientific research into food technology concentrated on food preservation.
Food Engineering Food engineering is the scientific, academic, and professional field that interprets and applies principles of engineering, science, and mathematics to food.
Basically the main difference is that the Food engineering concentrates on unit operation of food manufacturing, design and development of process and machineries for mass manufacturing, whereas food technology is the apex stream which covers all aspects of food starting with the physics, chemistry, biology of food science followed by engineering and technology to preserve and process foods as well as innovate new products and processes which can be mass produced.
GOOD LUCK, STAY MOTIVATED AND HOPE THIS HELPS.
Thankyou.

i am a food engineering student, can i apply for agri business and management in IIM AHMEDABAD, and what will be my cutoff?
Hello Vishnu,
Hope you are doing all good. Irrespective of your branch (Food Technology) you will fall under the umbrella of Engineers when you apply for CAT. Now, since you want an admission in IIM Ahmedabad, let me tell you that on IIM Ahmedabad does not offer specialized courses such as Agri Business and Management at least at the PGDM level.
It provides you with a diploma in general management with which you can enter into any management field be it Agri Business and Management.
So to answer your question straight, Yes you can apply for CAT in order to get admission in IIM Ahmedabad being a Food Engineering student but rest assured you will have to clear the normal cutoff as of any engineer. No benefit will be given due to your background. However, your background and aspiration in Agri Management might be helpful during the PI.
Hope this was helpful.
