Hello Aspirant
A B.Sc Forensic Science stands for a bachelor of science degree in the forensic science branch. It is a specialised programme designed and developed for individuals who want to pursue a career in forensics. It is an undergraduate degree programme. The duration of the B.Sc Forensic Science is three years. It is a B.Sc. course and forms a part of forensic science study.
It is one of the least competitive courses and hence has a higher scope with rise in demand of forensic experts. B.Sc Forensic Science provides the training to individuals to provide support to investigation of crimes and identify suspects from the materials found on crime scenes such as blood, bodily fluids, finger prints, fibres of clothes and DNA profiling.
A B.Sc Forensic Science has a huge scope in India. There is a constant growth in the number of crimes, forensic experts play a crucial role in identification of culprits by testing the forensic evidence in the lab.
Most graduates of B.Sc Forensic Science are employed by government organisations such as the Central Bureau of Investigation, Forensic Science Laboratory or Information Bureau.
B.Sc Forensic Science graduates can also think of having an academic career and becoming teaching professionals. They are required to complete a postgraduate in forensic science and then opt for a M.Phil. or PhD in the same.
It is a least competitive field as very few individuals opt for a B.Sc Forensic Science, hence the career prospects are usually good.
