Provide All details regarding Colleges available for Genetic Engineering?
Hello aspirant
Genetic Engineering additionally called genetic modification or genetic manipulation is the immediate control of a living being's genes using biotechnology.
An individual aspiring to pursue a professional degree in Genetic Engineering can begin the BTech course after his/her 10+2 Science with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Biology.
The best colleges are
SRM University Chennai Tamil Nadu, Bharath University Chennai Tamil Nadu, Aryabhatta Knowledge University Patna Bihar, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research Bangalore are some of the institutes offering genetic engineering
Hope this helps. All the best
In ICAR exam ,there is also a biotechnology (B tech ) coarse ,Im confused in engineering btech and bio technology bio stream please clear it , i want to do genetic engineering which coarse options will I mark?
You can go for any of the two ways to join biotechnology course as the eligibility criteria states that the candidate must have passed class 12th with minimum 50-60% marks in PCB/M/PCMB subject stream from a recognised board of education.
But,for genetic engineering, b.tech will be more appropriate course. The eligibility criteria for b.tech genetic engineering states that the candidate must have passed class 12th with minimum 50% marks in PCB/M from a recognised board of education. B tech will help you more in technicalities.
Hope this helps.
Good luck!
does SRM college in Chennai allows PCB (without maths) students for genetic engineering?
As per the official FAQ section of SRM :
Yes, students who have NOT studied biology in 10+2 or its equivalent are eligible for admission to B.Tech Genetic Engineering. They should have passed in 10+2 or its equivalent and secured minimum 60% aggregate in physics, chemistry and mathematics. Needless to say that the students who have secured minimum 60% aggregate in physics, chemistry and biology are eligible for admission to B.Tech Genetic Engineering. These are qualifying marks only. Admission will be based on the performance in All India Engineering Entrance Examination of SRM University (SRMEEE) only.
So if you have 60% marks then you are also eligible for the course.

is maths compulsory for genetic engineering? is it for PCB students or PCM students?
Genetic Engineering is a interdisciplinary field between engineering and genetics. If you have interest to work in the field of genetics then this can be a good option for you. Now in general Mathematics is required for Genetics. Statistics plays an important role in the experimentation of Genetics. So you need to know mathematics in due course which is known as BioMath or Bio Stat. Also in the 1st year you will have some comprehensive mathematics course known as Engineering Mathematics. So you have to learn Mathematics.
For this course both PCB and PCM are eligible but you will need Mathematics (basically computation) to lead the course.

which has high scope biotechnology or genetic engineering? also which has high salary range?
Biotechnology students are broad in scope, as they can work in the pharmaceuticals, agriculture, healthcare, food processing, nutrition, animal science, and environmental conservation sectors. Not in terms of opportunities, even salary packages for biotech professionals are lucrative.
The scope of biotechnology is wide and offers opportunities in both research and engineering fields.
It will take a lot of effort, which can sometimes be frustrating.
This is not a profession for people who want to make a quick buck, but rather for people looking for a long, well-laid career.
The testing and interview processes are often difficult and one has to be a technical expert.
While in genetic engineering:
After taking courses in genetic engineering, you can work in medical and pharmaceutical industries, research and development departments, agricultural sector, genetic engineering companies, chemical companies, etc.
You can earn Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD degrees in this field. It is important for the study of microbiology, cell biology, biotechnology and biochemistry.
Genetic engineering involves the manipulation of genes by organisms using biotechnology.
To be a genetic engineer, you require a strong understanding of scientific methods, critical thinking, analytical, mathematical, problem-solving skills, and the ability to use graphics, photographic images, etc.

what is the scope of genetic engineering in future? what is range of salary in india? is it for PCB stream?
Hey
In the past few years, India has become a global hub for the production of generic medicines at a lower price. Due to an increase in demand for medicines, biotech firms in India are increasing day by day, Genetic Engineering sector has a huge scope of expansion and job opportunities.
Investment in this sector increased threefold due to the pandemic. One can also opt for teaching as a career in this field, as more and more colleges and institutions are including genetic engineering in their curriculum, for which they are hiring research scholars and professionals in the field.
The eligibility criteria for same is to have at least 50% marks during their 10+2 from a recognised national or state level education board. The core subjects in 10+2 class should be Physics , Chemistry, Biology/ Mathematics. Students need to clear national level entrance exams or the entrance exam of the respective institute based on the requirement of the respective college(University).

can I study genetic engineering here?
Hello,
No Mahatma Gandhi Mission's Jawaharlal Nehru Engineering College, Aurangabad does not provide any genetic engineering course. MGM's Jawaharlal Nehru Engineering College is an engineering college affiliated to the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Maharashtra. It was established in 1982. The school is financed and run by the Mahatma Gandhi Mission.
can i do msc after 12 without doing bsc in genetic engineering...in india... please please answer..
You cannot directly join regular 2 years M.Sc program after 12th standard. But you can join 5 years B.Sc+M.Sc after 12th class. You can opt for this course path, research is your prime goal, because after this 5 year course, you might be allowed to join PhD in the same discipline without any entrance exam. But not many institutes offer 5 years integrated course in genetic engineering. So you may have to explore universities outside India if this is what you wish to pursue. Otherwise, you can follow the regular pattern, which is 3 years B.Sc in genetics, biology, biotech or any relevant field followed by 2 year M.Sc in genetic engineering or B.Tech .
