Hello,
Generally speaking the eligibility criteria to pursue MSc Genetics and Plant Breeding is passed BSc Agriculture/Horticulture/Forestry/Biotechnology/Life Science/Botany/Biology or any other equivalent degree from a recognized university securing 50% aggregate, admission process may be based on the merit of the qualifying examination, or done through entrance tests, so you can pursue MSc Genetics and Plant Breeding if you have studied BSc Botany at ug level in universities such as Calcutta University/Naini Agricultural Institute, Allahabad to name a few, you have to check out the eligibility criteria of specific universities prior to applying as some may emphasis on having studied specific subjects at ug level, though there are exceptions where you can apply even if you have not studied bsc agriculture at ug level, the eligibility criteria for MSc genetics and plant breeding will be based on graduate degree, not on your MSc degree.

I have secured 20 th rank in Msc plant biotechnology BHU PET 2021 .... is it a good choice to opt MSc biotechnology over Msc genetics and plant breeding from BHU
Hello Supriya,
Congratulations on getting such a good rank.
Having said that, I would say you should check with yourself with what are you more interested in.
I would advise you to opt for MSc Plant biotechnology, because this wouldn't narrow down your field and you will surely have genetics and plant breeding in the course as a part of it.
Though if you choose MSc genetics and plant breeding, you'll surely miss some of the important topics in plant biotechnology. Also this would narrow down your field.
With narrow down your field i mean just in case you want to pursue your PhD in some of the topic relevant to Plant biotechnology, you might miss out on those just because you pursued MSC in genetics and plant breeding.
Otherwise both the courses have equal scope
Hope that helps you
All the best
