Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test
FollowWith 80 marks in hpcet and 45 percentile in jee mains can I get seat in jawaharlal nehru government college
Dear Candidate ,
Yes with 80 HP CET marks , you surpass typical cutoffs for state - quota entry into JNGEC. You are very likely to obtain a seat in core branches like Civil , Mechanical or Textile, more competitive streams like E&C or AI may require a bit higher score , but admission is still feasible with your JEE percentile backing it up .
With 80 marks in hpcet and 45 percentile in jee mains can I get seat in jawaharlal nehru government college
Dear student,
With
80 marks in HPCET
and
45 percentile in JEE Mains
, your chances of getting a seat at
Jawaharlal Nehru Government Engineering College (JNGEC), Sundernagar
depend on your
branch preference
and
category
.
For General category , 80 marks are borderline for Mechanical or Civil Engineering, but too low for CSE or ECE, which usually need 90+ to 110+ marks. For reserved categories , you have a better chance , especially in less competitive branches.
Your
JEE Main percentile (45%)
is
too low
for admission via the JEE route at JNGEC, where CSE usually closes well below 100,000 rank.
Recommendation
:
-
Apply through the HPCET counselling process , especially for Mechanical or Civil.
-
Keep track of later rounds or spot counselling , where cutoffs sometimes drop.
-
Have a few backup options ready in other colleges if needed.

80 mark in HPCET, it’s very unlikely you will get a seat in Jawaharlal Nehru Government engineering College or other Himachal Government engineering colleges. Chapati
I have got 102 marks in hpcet can I get any govt college of btech
Dear aspirant,
It's possible to get a seat in a government college in Himachal Pradesh with 102marks in HPCET. If you belong to a reserved category like SC, ST or other your chances are higher but if you are from General category then scores around 100-120 are considered as competitive in most branches. The specific cut off will vary in each college and branches. The number of seats available in your preferred college will also influence your chances. So check the cut offs of your preferred government college .
Good luck.
i have 129 marks in hpcet and 88 percent in cbse pcm class 12 . Can i get seat in jngec for btech
HEY THERE!!
- With a score of 129 in HPCET and an 88% aggregate in PCM (Class 12 CBSE), your chances of securing a B.Tech seat at Jawaharlal Nehru Government Engineering College (JNGEC), Sundernagar, are quite strong.
- The eligibility threshold for admission is 45% in PCM, which you have exceeded by a significant margin.
- Looking at recent trends, a score above 100–120 in HPCET is generally considered competitive for most branches, particularly for candidates from the general category. Your score of 129 positions you well within this competitive range.
- JNGEC allocates 50% of its seats through the HPCET, while the remaining 50% are filled via JEE Main. With your current HPCET score, you are well-placed for the counselling process.
- Of course, the final outcome will depend on the individual branch cutoffs, your category, and seat availability at the time of allotment. Still, based on previous years’ cutoffs, your marks are above the typical requirements for most branches.
- Remaining attentive to the counselling schedule and procedures will be important to maximize your chances.
Is there any negative marking in hpcet for compulsory questions..
Hi aspirant,
- HPCET (Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test) carries negative marking .
- For each wrong answer , one point will be deducted from the overall score .
- Correct answers score four points, whilst unanswered questions receive none.
You can also refer to the link given above for more information on the same.
All the best!
If JNGEC will not take me with 83% in 12th and 124 hpcet score , I will file a case on the college , because they have mentioned on thier official website that they will take students of my level . And I am also in EWS category . If i will not get admission , then the college will face huge ratings down issue and also they will have to give commision , because I have proper evidence. Thats all. .!
Hello Karan,
I understand you're feeling frustrated, but filing a legal case against a college like JNGEC (Jawaharlal Nehru Government Engineering College) should be your last resort , and only if there is a clear and provable violation of their own admission criteria.
Here’s what you should do first:
1. Recheck Eligibility Criteria
-
Go through the official admission brochure or notification carefully.
-
Confirm the cut-off marks , category reservation , and HPCET score requirements for your category (EWS).
-
124 in HPCET and 83% in 12th is a strong profile in many cases.
2. Contact the Admission Office
-
Call or email the JNGEC admission cell with your query and attach your mark sheet and HPCET score.
-
Politely ask why you were not selected if you're eligible as per their notification.
-
Keep all responses and documents for record.
3. File a Grievance (if needed)
If you receive no valid reason , or the process seems unfair:
-
File a written complaint to the college principal or director .
-
You can also submit your complaint to HPTU (Himachal Pradesh Technical University) if they manage the admissions.
Legal Action (Only If Justified)
-
If there is clear evidence that:
-
You met all eligibility criteria,
-
They promised admission to students with your profile,
-
And still rejected you unfairly without explanation,
-
-
Then you can consult an education lawyer and consider legal steps.
Avoid Threatening Language
Using threats like “college will face huge rating down” or “they’ll have to give commission” weakens your position. Stick to facts, evidence, and formal complaint channels.
I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries, feel free to share your questions with us, and we will be happy to assist you.
