How many national institutes and regional medical research centers make up the ICMR?
26 national institutes and six regional medical research centers make up ICMR.
how can I work as a scientist in ICMR after msc biotechnology . what are the test or exams I should give
There are multiple ways of working with ICMR or many other Top CSIR/DRDO Labs after Masters in Biotechnology. Usually they have vacancies once or twice a year for Both Permanent and Temporary Positions. You must keep track of them, besides having Latest GATE/CSIR-NET Score ready with you. Secondly, many Positions, require a PhD, you may perhaps pursue a PhD from some of the higher technical institutes in India, followed by a career in Research or Academia. Apart from this you have another way through AcSIR, where you pursue your MTech/PhD parallely working with CSIR Labs as Scientist.
Apart from this, you may also appear for the BARC OCES/DGFS Exam, in the Biosciences Discipline followed by a Career as Scientist/Officer in one of the Units under Bhabha Atomic Energy Corporation, Government of India and the Public Research Sector.
how to get phd after mbbs at icmr or csir?
There are 2 ways to go about Ph.D after MBBS. One is the conventional way of completing MBBS, and then MS/MD and then go for Ph.D. The other way is taking advantage of your MBBS qualification and join Institutions which recruit MBBS graduates for their research programmes. One of them in demand always is Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology. It is based in Kerala and is under the Govt. of India. Clinical research is another field where there is increased demand for MBBS doctors. ICMR, CIMAP, CCMB hire MBBS graduates for their Clinical research teams. AIIMS, NIMHANS, PGI, TIFR offer courses in this field. There are courses in NanoSciences and Molecular medicine that you can pursue after MBBS. For this you may have to take a little detour and study M.Tech in Nanoscience and then continue with Ph.D in Biomedical Engineering. Then you have Medical Biotechnology, Photothermal therapy, Medical sciences and Technology, Theranostics and Nanotoxicology.
I hope my answer helps. All the very best for your future endeavors!
