Im an Average guy who scored 77% in 10th. 57% in 12 and 63% in Graduation year with cgpa of 8.9 and I belong to SC category which IIMs I can get into and what score should I be targeting for CAT
The Common Admission Test (CAT) is one of the most important component to get admission in any IIMs. In order to get admission in IIMs, you must obtain a good percentile in the CAT. There is no specific percentile stated by the IIMs which will give you a 100% WATPI shortlist.
However, every IIM has specified a minimum overall and sectional percentile which you must obtain in order to get eligible to get a WATPI shortlist. Even scoring that minimum percentile in the CAT will not give you a guarantee to get an interview call as it depends upon various factors.
IIMs give consideration to a number of factors while giving an interview call. These factors include CAT score, Class 10, Class 12, and Bachelor's degree marks, work experience, academic, and gender diversity, etc. Your first priority should be to clear both the overall and sectional percentile in the CAT as stated by the individual IIM for the SC category candidates.
The CAT score is not the only criteria but is one of the major criteria for admission. The cutoffs might be lower for SC category candidates. As you belong to the reserved category, there is a good chance that you might get a WATPI shortlist if you perform well in the CAT. Your priority should be to maximize your CAT score and percentile.
The marks obtained by you in Class 10, Class 12, and Graduation, work experience, and academic diversity will play a major role to get a shortlist for the WATPI process along with the CAT score, and your performance in the WATPI round will play a major role during your final selection.

Hello aspirant,
It's a well known fact that getting into IIM is very tough because it also look at you past records like your class 10 th and 12 th percentage, graduation percentage etc. But even after having bad past records, if you can score decent marks in CAT exam and interview then definitely you can get into top IIMs.
Thank you
Hope this information helps you.
89.3% in 10th 49.60% in 12th passed in covaid 75% in graduation worked in different NGOs having certification realted to specialization and other field certification also and 99 percentile in cat.. So it is possible to get profile cum score based call from spjimr
Yes, you can get the Profile-cum-Score-based call from SPJIMR subject to the condition that you achieve the minimum sectional cutoff of 75 percentile in the CAT .
SPJIMR selects candidates based on their profiles. For selection, candidate's overall profile and following factors are considered along with the CAT scores as mentioned below:
- Academic background- A strong and consistent performance in the Class 10, Class 12, and every year of graduation.
- Work experience- Relevant work experience for the chosen specialisation. However, work experience is not mandatory and, candidates with no work experience and those with less than five years of work experience can also apply for the PGDM.
- Versatility and Achievements- Endeavours in diverse fields of interest and achievements in extracurricular activities.
The final selection is based on a composite score, which takes into account the profile of candidates, academic record, CAT/ GMAT scores, work experience (if any), and performance in the two rounds of group interviews. As you have obtained 99 percentile in the CAT, there are good chances that you will get the PI shortlist subject to the condition that you meet the minimum eligibility criteria.
