Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 29th Jan, 2021

hi,

Indian foreign services  post comes under Group A and Group B post of the Central Civil Services of the executive branch of the Government of India. IFS exams is conducts by union public service commission. eligibility criteria is candidates must complete bachelors degree in any discipline from a recognized education board. however since its held by upsc and one of the lucrative exams you have to prepare separately while studying the graduation course. apart from which ever the institute you may take admission, you have to prepare by yourself or taking help from coaching institute. however I suggest you to chose a degree course as per your 12th background and best of interest.

hope it would help.

In my school, there is no humanities course for class 11th.so,in which stream I can choose to become Ias or Indian foreign service officer. Can I choose economics?

Hello,

When it comes to eligibility criteria for UPSC IAS or IFS , candidate needs to have passed/appearing Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized University, there's no specific aggregate required in this case.

So, your stream in 10+2 or graduation doesn't matter, you can pursue any stream as per your wish, eventually it'll your preparation and dedication that will matter and help you succeed. Yes,arts students have benefit in the sense they're already well acquainted with basics of syllabus, but if you want to keep your career options open you can go for Science or Commerce as well, in case of upsc it's also good to have back up plans.
