Is IIITDM Kancheepuram is good for btech?
Greetings Gaurav!
Hope you're doing great.
The college IITDM is a pretty good college, especially for the computer science department. Other branches are also good and placement is quite decent there as well. The institute is growing and also is its publicity. The speciality is the design based curriculum which has been implemented only by few colleges across India. To describe “design based” in short, it is the ability to develop products which are more efficient in terms of use, cost, etc.
Academics and Faculty: The campus has a high-end infrastructure with well-equipped labs, spacious classrooms, etc. The faculty here are knowledgeable and experienced. Most of them are PhD scholars from reputed IITs. Students are engaged with their assignments and projects after the classroom hours also( but not as imposed as junior college). The system followed here is continuous assessment. Regular guest lectures are held( at least one per week most of the times). Group work culture is predominant which is utmost important while in a job.
You’d actually find good lecturers in Mechanical Engg, some are theoretically splendid, some have impeccable amounts of practical knowledge, some are disciplined(no Non-Sense kind) & knowledgeable, some have knowledge but can’t seem to express it very well. Given the amount of history we have, I think we are good but it could’ve have been a lot better.
Placements: The placements are improving yearly and because of the design curriculum is attracting many reputed companies. A good student in pace can get a reasonable placement. I am also pasting the link of the institute’s placements page. For more details regarding college placements, average package and highest package, do follow this link: http://iiitdm.ac.in/
If you look at the overall picture, the college is pretty decent and has a stronghold in the regional area. If you're targeting this college you should apply through Jee mains. The admission is purely based on merit score obtained after normalization marks in Jee mains.
Hope this will help. Do reach out in the comment section below if you need any help.
All the best! Cheers!
My obc rank is 55,769.can i get iiit kancheepuram ?
Hello Nandini,
With OBC rank 55,769 you cannot get into IIIT Kanchipuram. Your rank is too high to be considered for intake in any branch. The usual closing rank for round 6/7 goes around 15-18k and 55k is very far from that. You can however look for more colleges based on your JEE mains performance by using the JEE main college predictor tool:

Is iiitdm kancheepuram good for btech mech in terms of placements, scope for the specialization in design, facilities there?
IIITDM Kancheepuram is good for BTech as it has special courses in design which are very interesting and teach you how to work on a project with a team. They are surely helpful in future.
Academic wise teaching is really good. Most of the teachers have done PhD from IIT's and their teaching is really good.
Placements are good in CSE compared to other branches. But compared to other colleges placements are average.
Hostel Facilities are excellent.
Hope this helps. Please comment if you have any other queries.

Hello,
The admission authority will release the cutoff for top B.Tech branches of NITs for the admission of candidates in different NITs through JEE Main.
Factors determining the NITs cutoff for top B.Tech branches
