On what basis some people choose IIM B over IIM A?
All 3 IIMs are equal in terms of the bare functions of education placements faculty. Where they differ is culture
people choose IIMB over IIM a for various reason
- Bengaluru is the startup hub of India. The campus is located in the heart of the city which gives the students a chance to explore the city.
- Since there are many startups and venture capitalists in Bangalore, frequent informal discussions are arranged between students and founders of these firms. Many students choose to work part-time with startups for their assignments to diversify their options for sectors.
- Unlike IIM A & C , IIM B offers a choice of 3 elective courses in the first year itself to prepare the students for the summer placements.
- there are many clubs and co-curricular activities at IIM B for the students to indulge in.
- Many students work on their startups as well with the help of NSRCEL. They also spend plenty of time having discussions with professors after the regular classes.
Is IIMBs PGPEM course worth it?
Hii
The purpose of the programme is to complement the excellent functional knowledge and experience that participants possess with contemporary management knowledge, thereby preparing them to manage greater responsibilities in a liberalized and globalized economy.
Students are provided a strong grounding in general management through the core courses in the first year and ample opportunity to acquire specialized knowledge through a rich choice of electives in the second year. A unique feature of this programme is that students can choose not only from the electives that are offered by the PGPEM but also from the other degree-granting programmes at IIMB.

How do I prepare for the PGPX interview at IIMA and IIMB?
Hii
An interview round should always be considered as a round of acceptance, not a round of rejection. The purpose of an interview round is for the panel to judge the authenticity of your application, assess how presentable your personality is and evaluate your communication skills. Contrary to popular belief, interviews usually do not go beyond a pre-determined scope. Your profile, your ambitions and relevant world affairs will constitute a major part of your interview. In the given time constraint, there are only a limited number of questions that a panel will ask you on these grounds.
The IIM Ahmedabad PGPX interview starts with an extempore. You would be asked to pick up a piece of paper on which a topic would be written. Usually the topic would be current and likely to be based on your area of experience. In 2020, a key question could be the impact of COVID 19 on your area of business / work.
Some of the other key topics could be:
India towards a USD 5 trillion economy
“Atma nirbhar Bharat”
The Reserve Bank’s role in the Indian economy
The role of the media in India
The coming of age of Rural India
You would be given some time to think (around 2 minutes) and then asked to start discussing the topic with the interview panel. Understand that while the panel is looking to test your knowledge, it will be more interested in your own opinion / views than mere information which you would have read in newspapers / on the internet.
Best of luck.

Do the iim b school like fms bhu check their pwd students
Hi Anant. Yes Business schools like IIMS, FMS and BHU etc. verify PWD applicants appearing for entrance exams . While filling the application forms, such students need to attach the PWD certificate issued by the government of india or State government for verification
which components should be made as good as possible if we want to get into IIM BANGALORE with 0 work experience i.e. after Bachelors degree? Also tell the same for IIM Calcutta.
Hi Richie,
First and foremost, for IIMs (A/B/C) you need to score a very good percentile in CAT. Assuming you're a GEM (General category, Engineer and a Male), and have decent academic scores (i.e. 85% and above in your 10th and 12th and 80% and above in your graduation) your percentile should be no less than 99.4 - 99.5.
Now, coming to specific B-Schools. IIM C gives less importance to your past academics and more to CAT and further processes (WAT, PI). So even if you have a poor score in 10th / 12th / graduation (obviously more than 70%), you still stand a chance by acing your CAT paper.
IIM B on the other hand gives a lot of weightage to your past academics. Therefore if you're not someone with 90% and above in both 10th and 12th, you might face serious competitions and if you have a poor score then you might want to drop the dream of IIM B.
But you can still look for IIM A, as it is more balanced than IIM B and doesn't necessarily put that much weight on your past academics.
Hope this helps.
