Yeah! If you qualify JEE MAINS i.e., you have to qualify the cut off of JEE ADVANCED i.e., you must be in the top 1lac student (to be safe in order to be eligible in JEE ADVANCED) then you can definitely appear for JEE ADVANCED examination. IIST provides admission on the basis of JEE ADVANCED only and it has a very good offer that if you can score 8 GPA in the BTech course at IIST then you will be provided direct placements to ISRO. Thus its a great opportunity and if you feel to work in ISRO then you should try your level best to get in IIST.
IIST offers three kind of degrees these are:

Hello,
No one can say the precise marks or even a range because total marks, pattern, and difficulty vary from year to year.
In the general category, 112 marks ( 28.28 percent) out of 396 were the closing marks for the year 2020. However, depending on the complexity of the paper and the number of students that applied for IIST, these marks will fluctuate from year to year. In terms of rank, you should aim for a position below 10,000 right now.
If your jee advance rank is less than 8000, you will almost certainly be given a seat. This year's rank dropped to 9500, presumably because many seats were left unfilled after the final round, and they had to undertake spot round admittance.
Hope it helped
Thank you
Hey Muraharirao..
IIST is a well-known and respected institution. It is, in fact, comparable to IIT. IIST's placements are exceptional. The majority of students are placed from there. The compensation scale is also excellent. You should be able to get a job there for at least 3 lakh per year. As a result, pursuing a bachelor's degree from IIST is the ideal option for you.
As a scientific engineer-SC, an IIST graduate will be hired. For this post under the 7CPC, the starting remuneration is currently Rs. 56100 basic + HRA+DA +TA.
I hope it helps.

Not much difference. The B. Tech courses offered by IIST , the curriculum is similar to that of IIT.
if you are strong passionate about avionics, space, aerospace Engineering. and in future have any idea of pursing higher studies then go for IIST
But if you don't have any specific interest , any highly concise about placements then to be in safer side select IIT .

IIST Thiruvananthapuram and IISc. Bangalore are the two top institutes of India for space research. In order to get admission in these institutes through JEE advanced you need a very good score because their cutoff are very high.
For aerospace engineering in IIST the cut off for general category in JEE advance 2020 was 29.80 % of total marks and in 2019 it was 34.14% .
For aerospace engineering in IISc the cut off in JEE advance 2020 for general category was under AIR 250 .
