To pursue Automation and Robotics at IIT Kanpur candidates need to have a CGPA above 5.5. Also you need a valid GATE score. As you are from mechatronics branch you can appear for the GATE Mechanical engineering, paper code ME, It will be more suitable for you than appearing for GATE Electrical.

If you'll appear for GATE electrical it will be different from your branch and will be difficult for you cope with it.

Automation and Robotics welcome candidates from different branches that include

Aerospace Engineering

CSE, ECE, EE,

Mechatronics and Instrumentation Engineering.

Hence apply for GATE for ME paper code. You need not switch to electrical for this.

If we talk about your category rank the you must have a OBC rank below 3600 in JEE Advanced to get a seat in IIT Kanpur.

The government colleges like IITs/nits provides the privilege for students who are not financially strong ,they can study their with very low fees. On the basis of family income it is divided into 2 categories:-

1-Family income greater than 1L and less than 5L - There 2/3 rd of tuition fees would be remitted.

2-Family income less than 1L - Their full tuition fee will be remitted.

Excluding these remissions there are also scholarships available for the candidates. They can apply for that too.

Yes IIT Bombay and IIT Kanpur offers Bachelor of Science in Economics. IIT Bombay offers Bachelor of Science in Economics. The admission is based on JEE Advanced and it is a full time 4 years degree. The candidates must have passed in 12 th standard from Science Stream with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or equivalent exam from a recognised Board. The course fee is Rs. 8.46 Lakhs for General Category students and Rs. 45,600 for SC /ST category students for Bachelor of Science in Economics course. There are in total 32 seats for BS Economics course.
