Indian Maritime University is a well known university and has a very high reputation for its standards of Education It provides admission in its various UG courses through its all India entrance test and based on the results of the test the merit list is prepared and then the seat allocation is done on its different campuses in various courses and in various branches.
You have cleared the entrance test and with the rank you got you will surely get admission in IMU in BTech course in Marine Engineering.

Taking admission for MBA program in IMU is beneficial?
IMU provides MBA in shipping and port management. Now if you are interested in these fields you can surely go for it. Being a very specialized field they don't have many opportunities in the marketplace. But if you feel that you can do well in these fields then definitely go for it. Or else there are so many good colleges out there that you can check out.

Admissions to the various UG and PG programmes (except BBA course) offered by IMU and its affiliated institutes will be done through IMU Common Entrance Test (CET) usually conducted in May/ June by the university. To apply for IMU CET, the registration fee is INR 1000 for General candidates and INR 700 for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates.
- For admission to B.Tech and B.Sc, the candidate must have passed 10+2 with minimum 60% marks in PCM taken together.
- In case of BBA, the candidate should have passed 10+2 in any discipline with minimum 60% marks.
- For M.Sc and MBA admission, the candidate must possess Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with minimum 50% marks.
- Candidates are shortlisted for all the courses (except BBA) on the basis of IMU CET scores.
The university also offers Lateral Entry into 2nd year of B.Tech (Marine Engineering). Candidates with Diploma in Marine /Mechanical Engineering with at least 60% marks overall are eligible to apply for lateral entry admission. The applications for this will be invited separately by the respective IMU Campuses/ Affiliated Institutes.

You will not able to get IMU Kolkata with this rank nor IMU mumbai. Witn this rank you can get admission in TS Rahman for BSC nautical science, IMI noida for Btech and DNS.But you can take admission in IMU affiliated institutes. Or you can try in private colleges.

Online Common Entrance Tests (CET) for Admissions All admissions to the various UG (except BBA), PG and Research Programmes of the IMU and its Affiliated Institutes for the Academic Year 2019-20 starting on Thursday, 01st August 2019 will be through all-India Online Common Entrance Tests (CETs) which will be conducted on Saturday, 01st June 2019 between 11 am and 2 pm. Candidates will be required to qualify this CET in order to be eligible for admissions to the respective Programmes. The following CETs will be held for respective Programmes: a) CET for UG Programmes [B.Tech (Marine Engineering), B.Tech (Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering), B.Sc (Nautical Science), B.Sc (Ship Building & Repair) and Diploma in Nautical Science]. b) CET for MBA (International Transportation and Logistics), MBA (Port and Shipping Management) programmes and for admissions to the 50% of seats for the non-seafarer candidates to M.Sc (Commercial Shipping and Logistics) programme. c) CET for M.Tech (Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering), M.Tech (Dredging and Harbour Engineering) and M.Tech (Marine Engineering and Management) programmes.
